(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A Wednesday court ruling overturned the results of a Democratic primary election in Connecticut, citing what Superior Court Judge William Clark described as “shocking” evidence of absentee ballot fraud.
According to the CT Examiner, the election in question had initially declared Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim as the winner, but the victory was swiftly overshadowed by accusations of absentee fraud, with his opponent John Gomes taking legal action.

Following two weeks of evidentiary hearings, Clark issued a 37-page verdict, describing the gravity of the evidence.
“Mr. Ganim was also correct to be ‘shocked’ at what he saw on the video clips in evidence that were shown to him while he was on the witness stand,” the judge wrote. “The videos are shocking to the court and should be shocking to all the parties.”
Consequently, the ruling mandated a joint meeting between the two Democratic contenders and city officials to deliberate on the subsequent steps, setting a deadline of Nov. 17 for a resolution.
The oldest tale in American politics:
“Just 250 votes separates Joe Ganim from John Gomes. John Gomes was in the lead, until the absentee ballots were counted”

Gomes, a former member of the Ganim administration, hailed the decision as a “victory for the people of Bridgeport,” according to the CT Mirror.
“Our campaign always believed that the integrity of our democratic process must be upheld and Superior Court Judge William Clark agreed,” he said.
On the other hand, the Ganim team hinted at the possibility of an emergency filing with the state’s Supreme Court.
“Certainly, today’s decision by the court is a substantial one in the court case, and I’ll wait to be apprised by the lawyers as to whether or not they want to take an appeal,” Ganim said.
“I’m the endorsed Democratic candidate on the top line, and I’m asking everyone to come out and vote in this election. Let’s send a powerful message that we want to keep the progress going in Bridgeport,” he added.
