(Chris Parker, Headline USA) Disney is rebranding one of its most iconic characters in order to appease transgenders, reports Townhall.
The Bibbidi Bobidi Boutique’s cast members have traditionally been called “Fairy Godmothers in Training.” The title stems from Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, one of Disney’s most iconic characters.
However, the hyper-woke company now believes that its title no longer suits cast members suffering from gender dysphoria. So, they have decided to change the title to “Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices.”
“This way, cast members that might not identify as female can still be part of the process to dress up & style the children without having to refer to themselves as a female Disney character,” according to “Streaming the Magic,” a blog by Disney. Disney has already updated the title on their website.
Disney also pulled its “Trader Sam’s Grotto” t-shirts in 2021 “to be destroyed.” They were determined to be too culturally insensitive less than a year after they were released.
That decision closely followed a rewrite of the script for Disney World’s Jungle Cruise ride. They claimed that its changes would still closely reflect Marc Davis’s original style, but in a more inclusive manner. It will also fault the characters for invading the animals’ world.
Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has heavily criticized Disney for engaging in “stupid activism.” Disney significantly increased its barrage of transgender messaging in content targeting children after DeSantis signed The Parental Rights in Education Act. It bars classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity through third grade.
Disney also vowed to help repeal that law in Florida. They dubiously joined leftist activists in nicknaming it the “Don’t Say Gay” law.
“Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that,” Disney said.
“We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”
