Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) lashed out at two Fox News hosts Thursday to illustrate the importance of contacting elected officials.
During an Instagram live video, Ocasio-Cortez praised the benefits of the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 stimulus package.

She then urged viewers to call the eight Democrat Senators who voted against the $15-an-hour minimum wage measure that progressives hoped would be included in the final bill.
“You should absolutely, 100 percent contact your senator and say ‘Why did you not vote to include the $15 minimum wage?’ Because it’s really important,” she said.
Ocasio-Cortez stated in the live video, “A lot of people think this whole ‘call your senator’ thing is B.S. and doesn’t mean anything.”
She added, “I’m telling you right now it is so influential. It’s influential precisely because not enough people do it.”
Referring to conservative callers to her office, the congresswoman noted, “The right wing makes a lot of phone calls. Oh my gosh, I usually know what Tucker Carlson or Sean Hannity or any one of these Fox News ghouls were [saying].”
She added Fox News fans are “brainwashed,” claiming, “What happens is you get all of these people who are kind of like, really brainwashed by a lot of these tele-racists. And just kind of saying these lies on Fox and then what happens is that they call our office.”
Ocasio-Cortez added, “It’s kind of like drones. It’s really kind of weird but it’s influential.”
Ocasio-Cortez ended her live video by urging Americans to call elected officials about their concerns. She also encouraged callers to tell legislators when they believe they are doing a good job.
