(Headline USA) Former New York Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo defended his brother, Chris Cuomo, who was ousted from CNN for abusing his position, alleging that the network bowed to “cancel culture.”
Ever since resigning from office in disgrace, Andrew Cuomo has insisted that he was the victim of “cancel culture” and denied the allegations of sexual harassment that had been made against him.
This week, he claimed his brother was also a victim of cancellation.
“One manifestation of the extremism is this so-called cancel culture. Cancel culture says if you don’t agree with me and my point of view you should be canceled,” he told a group at the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization, according to The Hill.
“It is communicated through social media quickly and effectively and it demonizes anyone who doesn’t agree with their position,” Andrew Cuomo said.
He went on to say that “big shots like CNN, AT&T, Time Warner, and Discovery are afraid of the cancel culture. Even billionaire media owners like John Malone, John Stankey, and David Zaslay fear being canceled,” he said, alleging CNN’s parent company, Warner Media, was “in the middle of a merger and afraid of the cancel-culture mob.”
“Anyone can get canceled at any time. And it happens today with frequency,” he continued.
“No one is immune. Politicians certainly, but even the press is afraid of the cancel culture because their business is now also about clicks and tweets and Twitter followers,” said Cuomo, who was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of senior citizens when his policies forced them into nursing homes where they contracted COVID.
Chris Cuomo was forced out of CNN after it was discovered that he used his position to get information on the women who accused his brother of sexual harassment. He filed a lawsuit against his former employee this week, alleging that his bosses at CNN were fully aware of the scope of his assistance to Andrew Cuomo. He is seeking a $125 million arbitration claim from CNN.
