(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rebuked former President Donald Trump’s assertions regarding the ongoing conflict with Russia, dismissing Trump’s proposed 24-hour resolution and asserting that the war cannot be resolved swiftly without territorial concessions.
In a revealing interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker on Sunday, Zelenskyy extended an invitation to Trump to visit Ukraine, intending to explain the conflict to the former president.

“I invite President Trump if he can come here. I will need 24 minutes…to explain [to] President Trump that he can’t manage this war, that he can’t bring peace because of Putin,” Zelenskyy asserted during the interview on Meet the Press. “If he’s not ready to give our territory for this terrible man. If you’re not ready to give our independence…he’s very welcome.”
Zelenskyy’s response marks a stark contradiction to Trump’s assertion that he could resolve the war within a day, should he be reelected in 2024.
In a May interview with GB News, Trump said, “If I were president, and I say this, I will end that war in one day, it would take 24 hours. I know Zelenskyy well, I know Putin well. I would get that ended in a period of 24 hours. It would be easy, that deal would be easy.”
Zelenskyy, currently facing a corruption scandal that has mired the highest levels of the Ukrainian government, revealed that he hasn’t communicated with Trump since the 2020 election and expressed doubts regarding Trump’s support if he was to return to the White House.
“Do you think he would have Ukraine’s back if he were to be re-elected?” queried Welker, to which Zelenskyy responded, “I don’t know. Really, I don’t know. I hope that it depends not only on the president institutionally. I think it depends on the opinion of Americans, of your society. I think that is most important. I think it’s important in the United States and EU the attitude of just ordinary people. There — it’s their support. It’s their money. It depends on them.”
In contrast, Zelenskyy hailed President Joe Biden, lauding him as a “hero” for his support. “I’m really thankful to President Biden, by the way he was here and I think he’s a strong man. He’s a hero,” Zelenskyy commended.
