(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) As President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris ignore and exacerbate the border crisis, morale among U.S. Border Patrol officers has declined and suicide rates have spiked, the Daily Caller reported.
In just two weeks, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) has seen the suicides of three of its members, according to Sergio Moreno, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council.
But the problems are not limited to recent weeks.
With increasingly low morale, and increasing suicide rates, the CPB has brought in a suicidologist, Dr. Kent Corso, who has been investigating the incidents.
Moreno suggested that, in part, the suicides have been caused by the fact that the men of the CPB have not been allowed to do their jobs under Biden’s reign.
“Under the current administration, we are not allowed to do the full functions of the Border Patrol, the enforcement aspect,” Moreno said.
The colleagues of the deceased, in his view, are “distraught.”
He also noted his concern that the frequency of incidents in only increasing.
“It is concerning that two individuals, hardworking Americans, fathers, patriots, law enforcement officers, co-workers and friends took their own lives days apart from the same sector,” Moreno said, alluding to two agents from the Rio Grande Valley sector who recently took their own lives.
Having to increasingly release the illegals they once “tracked and arrested” has placed more stress on the agents, the agent told the DCNF.
According to an anonymous agent, the Biden administration is to blame.
“Since the Biden administration came into office, we lost our purpose,” the agent said.
“We know the long term effects that this surge of illegal immigration will have on the country,” the agent added. “The country will be a larger scale of what sanctuary states have given a glimpse of. The lawlessness created by government-funded support programs will destroy our education and medical structures.”
