Signs Point to Possible Youngkin ’24 White House Run

'I am always humbled by this request, but we have a lot of work to do today in Virginia... '

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) With speculation running rampant about potential Republican contenders for a 2024 presidential push, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is increasingly gaining traction as part of the mix.

Adding fuel to the fire was a revelation that Youngkin took an off-the-books visit to New York in June to meet with potential big money backers, according to Just the News.

“At the end of June, Youngkin made a private visit to New York to meet with GOP megadonors,” the publication reported. “The visit was not on the governor’s public calendar.”

The visit apparently paid handsomely and was well worth the popular GOP governor’s time. Youngkin has reportedly raised “more than $2.5 million so far this year through his Spirit of Virginia PAC,” Just the News reported, while also raising more loot through his national political nonprofit, America’s Spirit.

Because the state constitution of Virginia precludes governors from serving consecutive terms, it seems that Youngkin’s sights might include a run for president in 2024, potentially competing against Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.

Youngkin, enjoying favorable ratings as governor, played down any presidential talk for himself, only offering that he “hopes to expand his national influence by lending his support to candidates nationwide heading into this year’s midterm elections,” reported Just the News.

The speculations about Youngkin running for president have steadily emerged over the past month after several national TV interviews and a high profile with several Supreme Court justices residing in his state..

In an interview with Fox News last month, Youngkin again played coy, saying he hadn’t reached any decision about a possible White House bid and was focused on the needs of Virginia.

“I have not made a decision yet,” he said. “I am always humbled by this request, but we have a lot of work to do today in Virginia.”
