Joe Biden's Brother, Frank, Owes $1 Million to Daughters of Drunk-Driving Victim

(Joshua Paladino, Liberty Headlines) As Joe Biden lags in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, a new report shows that his brother, Frank Biden, owes nearly $1 million to victims of a drunk-driving incident.
Frank refuses to pay the settlement even as he collects hundreds of thousands of dollars in a charter-school business venture that he admits began because of his last name, ABC News reported.
In 1999, Frank Biden, 43, was riding shotgun in a Jaguar convertible that he rented, while his friend, 25-year-old Jason Turton was driving, Daily Mail reported.
The two had a few drinks, went to Turton’s house, and picked up three more friends. They left Turton’s house at about 11:15 p.m.
As Turton drove the car down a 35-mph road, Biden reportedly shifted the car into manual and told Turton to “punch it.”
Turton reached 80 mph before he hit and killed Michael Albano, a single father of two daughters, whose mother lost custody of them when they were young because of a schizophrenia diagnosis, the Washington Examiner reported.
When the car hit Albano, witnesses said they heard Biden say “keep driving,” but Turton pulled the car over and fled on foot. Biden stayed with the vehicle.
Police found Turton, arrested him, and learned that his blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was 0.18.
An ensuing criminal trial placed legal responsibility with both Turton, for speeding and drunk driving, and Albano, who did not use a crosswalk.
Biden was excluded from the criminal trial, but Albano’s parents, who took custody of their grandchildren, 17-year-old Lorraina and 16-year-old Nicole, opened civil lawsuits against both Frank Biden and Budget Rent-a-Car.
The Albanos said Budget negligently rented a car to Biden, who had a “past history of mental health problems and / or drug and alcohol abuse and past driving record.” The Albanos and Budget resolved the lawsuit without a trial, and Budget paid the family an unknown amount.
When the Albanos sued Biden, he fled from Florida to California, failing to show up for the trial.
Despite Biden’s no-show, a judge ruled in 2002 that Biden owed Lorraine and Nicole $275,000 each, plus 10 percent interest for each year that he refused to pay.
The daughters sent a letter to then-Sen. Joe Biden in 2003, and received no response, and again in 2008, at which point Biden shrugged off the horrific incident.
“The senator would certainly encourage his brother to pay the judgment if his personal financial circumstances made that at all possible,”said Luis Navarro, Biden’s chief of staff. “As you are aware, however, Frank has no assets with which to satisfy the judgment. The senator regrets that this is where matters stand and that he cannot be more helpful.”
To this day, he has not paid the women, now in their 30s, a dollar.
All indications show that Biden, who raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars through Mavericks in Education from 2009 to 2014, has the money to pay at least part of the settlement.
Biden admitted in interviews that his last name was a “tremendous asset” in securing charter school contracts because of his family’s record of “taking care of people who need help.”
He said his last name ensured “automatic acceptance” when seeking government approval to open charter schools in Florida.

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) Former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign is scrambling to make up for lost ground after Biden lost the Iowa Democratic caucus.

On Friday, his campaign announced that it was reorganizing in the wake of the underwhelming performance, which some staff members described in more colorful terms, such as “s***show” and “clusterf***.”

Biden’s team had tried to temper expectations, saying it was prepared to lose to Bernie Sanders—maybe even Elizabeth Warren—but Iowa’s results, which placed Biden in fourth with 16% of the vote, shocked his campaign aides and surrogates.

“We can’t be in fourth place. That just cannot be right,” one Biden staffer remembers thinking when Iowa’s results began to trickle in.

With deep lingering anxieties about the outcomes in the coming New Hampshire primary and Nevada caucus, Biden elevated Anita Dunn, a seasoned Obama campaign manager, to the what was, effectively, the top spot in his campaign, the Associated Press reported.

Biden had previously relied on younger leaders to manage the campaign, whose vision was often at odds with his “old guard” of trusted advisers, the AP reported.

The campaign also cut ties with its Iowa field director, Adrienne Bogen, in order to appease donors who had begun to worry about the durability of Biden’s candidacy.

“We had precinct captains who didn’t know how to run a caucus. And a few didn’t even show. We lost friggin’ people on the second ballot of voting in the caucus. Someone’s head had to roll,” a top-level Biden campaign staffer explained.

Even Biden has admitted that Iowa did not work out the way he had expected.

“I expected to do better,” he said during a CNN town hall. “And I expected that our organization would perform better. We took a gut punch.”

Biden’s numbers don’t look much better in New Hampshire. Sanders is still in the lead and Pete Buttigieg is quickly gaining on him. This has left Biden staffers hoping that things change in South Carolina, where Biden enjoys a considerable amount of African American support.

“We believe South Carolina is our firewall and it is,” said a Biden adviser. “But if we lose three straight in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, the fire can jump the wall.”

But other aides aren’t so sure that relying on South Carolina is a good idea.

“Nevada is crying out for resources and we should give it to them, but some of us think we can rely on South Carolina and that’s a big mistake,” another adviser said. “Bernie is on the move in Nevada. It’s a caucus state. We just got crushed in a caucus state. Do the math.”

Biden’s deputy campaign manager, Kate Bedingfield, said that at the end of the day, Biden’s familiarity will help him win the Democratic nomination.

“What voters are seeing is somebody who can take Trump’s punch because he’s known, because people have a sense of who he is,” she told the Atlantic. “That’s the way to beat Trump. That’s the key. You’ve got to put somebody up against him who’s impervious.”

But the problem is that as the Democratic Party moves further to the left, toward Sanders, voters once considered moderate are leaving Biden behind, explained Dave Nagle, a former Iowa Democratic Party chairman.

“[Biden] has got to get his message right and his message out here wasn’t right. His presentations were not focused. They were rambling. They were stories about what his father told him and what his mother told him,” Nagle said. “I think the Biden campaign got his message from the ’80s, when it is totally different now.”

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) Former deep-state operative Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who testified against the president during the House’s impeachment inquiry, discovered Friday that actions have consequences when he was escorted from the White House on Friday.

His twin brother, Yevgeny, an NSC attorney, was also escorted from the White House Friday, NBC News reported.

There were indications earlier in the day that President Donald Trump, still celebrating his Wednesday acquittal, sought to oust Vindman from his role with the National Security Council.

Vindman had reportedly told officials at the NSC that he would resign by the end of the month, but Trump sought to fire him sooner to make a point, according to the Washington Post.

“Well, I’m not happy with him. You think I’m supposed to be happy with him? I’m not. They’ll make that decision. You’ll be hearing. They’ll make a decision,” Trump said.

Trump, the former host of “The Apprentice” has sought to preempt other prominent departures in the past when it came to disloyal staff members such as former Defense Secretary James Mattis.

Prior to testifying, Vindman assured his father, a Ukrainian immigrant, that he would be safeguarded by whistleblower protections. It was expected that he likely would be able to retain his plum government benefits by being reassigned to the Pentagon.

However, Vindman’s attorney, David Pressman, complained that things had not worked out according to plan, dashing the faith he placed in House Democrats such as Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Adam Schiff, both of California, to uphold their promises.

“LTC Vindman was asked to leave for telling the truth,” Pressman said in a statement. “The truth has cost LTC Alexander Vindman his job, his career and his privacy.”

Pressman claimed that “the most powerful man in the world—buoyed by the silent, the pliable, and the complicit” had “decided to exact revenge” on Vindman.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper was asked what the Pentagon would do to ensure that Vindman faces no retribution when he is reassigned from the White House.

He referred the question to the Army, in terms of Vindman’s next assignment, but on the retribution aspect, he said, “We protect all of our service members from retribution or anything like that. We’ve already addressed that in policy and other means.”

Vindman, who was listening in on Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelenskiy, found it to be an abuse of power worthy of removal, according to his subjective judgment.

However, he had no direct evidence of Trump’s demand on Zelenskiy and claimed to have heard it from someone else. During the Senate impeachment trial, 52 senators disagreed, falling well short of the two-thirds majority needed to convict the president.

Vindman also defended career intelligence officials who testified against the president.

“I never thought I would be sitting here testifying in front of this committee and the American public about my actions,” Vindman claimed.

Hunter Biden Admits 'Mistake' but Denies Wrongdoing: 'This Isn't Real Stuff'

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) The U.S. Treasury Department is handing over confidential banking records related to Hunter Biden to the Senate’s investigative committees as Republicans prepare to launch an investigation into the Bidens’ business dealings overseas.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, asked the Treasury Department last November for “suspicious activity reports” about money laundering or fraud related to Hunter Biden.

This week, a spokeswoman for Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., the ranking Democrat on the committee, confirmed that the Treasury Department is “rapidly complying” with Grassley’s request, calling the investigation a “sideshow.”

“Applying a blatant double standard, Trump administration agencies like the Treasury Department are rapidly complying with Senate Republican requests—no subpoenas necessary—and producing ‘evidence’ of questionable origin,” Wyden’s spokeswoman, Ashley Schapitl, told Yahoo News.

Grassley’s office said it could not elaborate on what records the committee has obtained, but a spokesperson criticized Wyden and the other Senate Democrats for recklessly trying to obstruct the committee’s investigation.

“As a matter of routine, we don’t discuss sensitive third-party material during ongoing investigations,” Taylor Foy, Grassley’s spokesman, said in a statement. “It’s unfortunate that Democrats whom we’ve kept in the loop on our investigations would recklessly seek to interfere with legitimate government oversight.”

Just this week, Grassley and Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, asked the U.S. Secret Service to hand over Hunter Biden and Joe Biden’s official travel records.

The senators requested information on what sort of security detail Hunter Biden received while his father served as vice president, and a list of dates and places Hunter Biden went to with service detail. They also requested information on whether Hunter Biden traveled on government aircraft while making business trips.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-SC, has also said his committee will begin calling witnesses for hearings related to Hunter Biden’s dealings in Ukraine.

“We’re going to get to the bottom of this,” Graham told Fox News last month.

Graham also said he “can prove beyond any doubt” that Joe Biden’s claims that he sought to root out corruption in Ukraine were undermined by his son’s position with Ukrainian oil company Burisma.

“We’re not going to give him a pass on that,” Graham said.

Senate Democrats are now complaining that the federal government is cooperating with the Republicans’ requests for information because there is “concern that the [Treasury Department] would prioritize Republican requests over Democratic requests,” said Schapitl.

“Republicans are turning the Senate into an arm of the president’s political campaign, pursuing an investigation designed to further President Trump’s favorite conspiracy theory that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 election and smear Vice President Biden,” she continued.

However, after a particularly weak performance in the Iowa primary on Monday, Biden’s campaign may already have hobbled itself without any help from the Senate.

The former front-runner’s staff has openly expressed worries that the “train wreck” in the Hawkeye State could be a devastating blow to his campaign momentum.

The Democrats’ claim that there is now suddenly a double standard is ironic, said one Republican Senate aid, who pointed to the Democrats’ recent attempt to impeach President Trump.

“The Democrats launched a nuclear weapon with impeachment, and then wanted to negotiate while it was in the air—that’s not how oversight works,” the aide said.

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) Disgraced former FBI agent Peter Strzok said he is ready to respond to President Donald Trump’s “attacks” after the president mocked him and his former paramour, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, during his post-acquittal celebration this week.

Trump blasted the FBI for attempting to derail his presidency. He specifically criticized “sleazebag” former FBI Director James Comey, as well as Strzok and Page, whom Trump called “lowlifes.”

“I can tell you, in my opinion, these are the crookedest, most dishonest, dirtiest people I’ve ever seen,” Trump said on Thursday, reading from a transcription of text messages exchanged between “the FBI lovebirds.”

“They said—this is Strzok: ‘God, Hillary should win 100 million to one.’ This is about me,” Trump said. “This is an agent from the FBI.”

He continued by railing at the hypocritical double standard that Democrats had applied to Hillary Clinton’s criminal conduct, which involved the wiping of servers and the destruction of government-issued devices that contained classified government emails subpoenaed by Congress.

“Look how they let her off,” Trump said. “Thirty-three thousand emails deleted. Nothing happens to her. Nothing happens. It’s unbelievable.”

Strzok’s lawyer, Aitan Goelman, responded by claiming there had been a “betrayal of our national security” from the president’s comments.

Goelman followed up on Friday by falsely claiming that the previously released reports had “vindicated” Strzok. However, DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz said the opposite while testifying before the Senate in December.

“Peter Strzok, a patriotic career counterintelligence agent whose conduct in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election has been vindicated by two independent IG investigations, today found himself targeted by his President in yet another unhinged attack,” Goelman said.

Page has not yet responded to Trump’s comments, but she has accused the Justice Department of “betraying” her and Strzok.

“I mean, it’s, it’s really one of the more painful aspects of this entire two years,” Page told MSNBC late last year. “I mean, the president’s attacks and assaults are one thing but this is my institution, this is my Justice Department betraying us.”

Report: Obama's Response to Russian Meddling 'Delayed and Ineffective'

(Joshua Paladino, Liberty Headlines) The Senate Intelligence Committee released a report of former President Barack Obama‘s response to Russian interference in the 2016 election, which Republican members described as “delayed and ineffective.”
The report, titled “U.S. Government Response to Russian Activities,” found that the Obama administration learned about potential interference well before the 2016 election, but officials failed to inform the public or defend the nation, CNBC reported.
Republican Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, John Cornyn of Texas, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Jim Risch of Idaho commented on the report in a press release.
“Well before the 2016 election, there was clear and mounting evidence that Russia intended to conduct cyber-attacks against our political infrastructure,” they wrote.
“This report and our additional views demonstrate the Obama administration was paralyzed in recognizing, and incompetent in responding forcefully to Russian attempts to sow discord in the U.S. and influence our elections, ” they said.
Sen. Richard Burr, R-NC, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said the Obama administration never decided upon a course of action.
Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, agreed that the Obama administration’s response had “many flaws,” but he said that “many of those were due to problems with our own system—problems that can and should be corrected.”
Critics have said Obama avoided taking action because he felt certain of a Hillary Clinton victory and feared casting doubt on the election’s integrity or appearing publicly like he might be trying to sway it.
“[F]actors included the highly politicized environment, concern that public warnings would themselves undermine confidence in the election, and a delay in definitive attribution to Russia, among other issues,” the report said.
However, members of Obama’s intelligence community, such as former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper have claimed that Obama, himself, had directed their efforts to interfere in the election and to secretly spy on then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign using the false pretenses of Russian collusion.
Trump said last year that Obama administration sat on its hand, which the report confirmed.
“He did NOTHING, and had no intention of doing anything!” Trump said on Twitter, CNBC reported.
The Senate Intelligence Committee’s bipartisan report is the third installment in a series of five reports that will be released regarding the Obama administration’s response to Russia’s interefence in the 2016 election.
The Obama administration reportedly issued “high-level warnings … to Russian officials,” but it is unclear whether those warnings “tempered Moscow’s activity.”
When Obama learned that Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly hacked the Democratic National Committee, he told him to “cut it out.”
Although the Obama administration knew about Russia’s activities as early as June 2016, it did not convey that knowledge to the public until October 2016.
“If the Administration had informed the public of Russian hacking and dumping earlier than October 7, and had there been bipartisan condemnation of these operations, the public and the press may have reacted differently to the WikiLeaks releases,” the committee’s report said.
The report further speculates that Trump would have backed away from topics related to WikiLeaks and Russia if he knew the full extent of their activities to influence the election.
“At the least, stories about Democratic emails might have mentioned that their release was part of a Russian influence campaign and that Donald Trump’s repeated references to the releases, his stated adoration of WikiLeaks, and his solicitation of Russian assistance were taking place in the context of an ongoing influence campaign to assist him,” the report claimed.
The two-year-long Mueller Report, released in March 2019, ultimately concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support claims that Trump intentionally colluded with the Russians.

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) The GOP is giving President Donald Trump’s closest allies a more prominent role in the House.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, will soon become the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee and Rep. Mark Meadows, R-NC, is expected to take over Jordan’s spot on the House Oversight Committee, according to The Hill.

The move comes as Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., considers a possible primary challenger to newly appointed Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp appointed Loeffler to replace retiring Sen. Johnny Isakson in December, although Trump allies had been angling for Collins to fill the vacancy.

“I was very supportive of the decision to for Jim to ultimately take over the Judiciary Committee once Doug steps down next month, and I think Jim’s going to do a great job,” said House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La.

“He’s already done a great job on Oversight, and I think that Mark Meadows is going to be a very, very solid replacement for Jim over there.”

Both of the committees played a significant role in Trump’s recent impeachment by partisan House Democrats. It now seems that the GOP, led by Trump, is looking to become more proactive on both committees to prevent further Democratic investigations.

The White House reportedly requested the transfers, which shows just how closely Trump is working with the House Freedom Caucus, of which Jordan and Meadows are both members.

Meadows has announced that he will not run again for his seat in North Carolina, fueling speculation that he may have higher Senate ambitions—or possibly be eyeing a White House appointment in Trump’s second term.

“My work with President Trump and his administration is only beginning,” he said in December.

Jordan, who temporarily joined the House Intelligence Committee during the hearings led by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has already made it clear he will oppose any of the House Democrats’ efforts to continue investigations President Trump.

The two Democrat-led committees have relentlessly continued to file subpoenas into Trump, including efforts to obtain his private financial records and tax documents.

“The facts are solidly on the president’s side,” Jordan told Fox News. Impeachment was “ridiculous,” he added, and the American people “know that.”

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg has branded himself as a moderate, but on abortion, he is just as radical as any liberal.

In an appearance with “The View” on Thursday, co-host Meghan McCain asked Buttigieg about past comments he had made in which Buttigieg expressed support for late-term abortions.

“Right now, [Republicans] hold everybody in line with this one piece of doctrine about abortion, which is obviously a tough issue for a lot of people to think through morally,” Buttigieg said at the time.

“Then again, there’s a lot of parts of the Bible that talk about how life begins with breath, and so even that is something that we can interpret differently.”

McCain asked Buttigieg to clarify what he meant and noted that many Democratic voters oppose late-term abortion.

Buttigieg responded: “We live in a country where it is extremely important that no one person have to be subject to some other person’s interpretation of their own religion.”

When pressed on where he’d draw the line, Buttigieg continued, “My point is that it shouldn’t be up to a government official to draw the line, it should be up to the woman who’s confronted with the choice.”

“What about infanticide,” McCain asked. To which Buttigieg responded, “I trust her.”

Polling shows 44% of Democratic voters and 62% of independents support restrictions on abortion, according to the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List. Yet, Buttigieg seems to support limitless access to abortion at any stage of pregnancy.

“Pete Buttigieg is no moderate when it comes to abortion, refusing on national television to repudiate partial-birth abortion or support protections for babies born alive,” SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement.

“Pete Buttigieg is so extreme, he even refuses to protect babies who survive abortions,” she continued. “This is an enormous moral and political mistake.”

Manafort and Mueller Reach Plea Agreement to Avoid 2nd Trial

(Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) Investigative journalist John Solomon, the longtime Hill columnist who has been at the forefront of Ukraine coverage, helped launch a new media site with a major scoop to bolster the allegations that corrupt Ukrainian officials may have colluded with Democrats in the 2016 election to spread disinformation on then-GOP candidate Donald Trump.

Solomon reported for Just The News that a witness in the Mueller investigation affirmed that a document allegedly linking former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort to $12.7 million in kickback payments from Russian officials had been fabricated.

The document, referred to as the “black ledger,” mysteriously appeared in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev during the 2016 election. The New York Times reported on the ledger in August 2016, without raising any questions about its legitimacy.

But Manafort’s one-time business partner, Rick Gates, debunked its authenticity in an April 2018 deposition, Solomon reported.

“The black ledger was a fabrication,” Gates told Just The News. “It was never real, and this fact has since been proven true.”

According to Gates, when Viktor Yanukovych, a former president of Ukraine with whom Manafort conducted business, fled to Russia following a 2014 revolution, the records related to their business transactions were destroyed.

“All the real records were burned when the party headquarters was set on fire when Yanukovych fled the country,”Gates told investigators.

Solomon said several Ukrainian sources had confirmed Gates’ statements.

Manafort, who ultimately was convicted on a slew of process crimes related to tax fraud and money laundering, remains incarcerated.

Gates also was indicted on several counts but struck a plea deal with Mueller. In December 2019, he was sentenced to 45 days in prison and three years probation.

The Mueller investigation, which concluded in March 2019, determined there was insufficient evidence to establish that Trump and his campaign colluded with Russia.

However, Democrats and other anti-Trump operatives remain under scrutiny for their role in conspiring to sway the election and undermine Trump’s presidency with the false claims.

The Ukrainian embassy previously acknowledged that it had worked with a staffer for the Democratic National Committee, Alexandra Chalupa, to spread disinformation on Trump’s phony Russian collusion to media outlets.

Chalupa’s efforts paralleled those of Christopher Steele, a former British spy whose salacious claims against Trump, commissioned by the Hillary Clinton campaign, were used by the FBI as a pretense to spy on Trump campaign advisers.

The debunked Steele Dossier later was leaked to the media in an effort to undermine the legitimacy of the newly elected president.

Chalupa also maintained close ties to other deep-state Ukrainian activists, such as presumed anti-Trump whistleblower Eric Ciaramella.

Solomon’s previous reporting has linked Hunter Biden and other well-connected Burisma associates to lobbying efforts with the State Department following a 2016 raid on several locations connected with the Ukrainian energy company.

Roughly a month later, then-Vice President Joe Biden forced the firing of the investigating prosecutor after threatening to withhold a billion-dollar U.S. loan.

In addition to obtaining a tranche of open-records requests through the State Department that implicated Obama administration officials in the unethical dealings, Solomon obtained an affidavit from the fired Ukrainian prosecutor, Viktor Shokin.

Shokin’s statement affirmed that his termination and the “dormancy” of the Burisma probe both were directly related to Biden’s pressure on the Petro Poroshenko administration—a contradiction to the mainstream media claims that there was nothing worth investigating.

Solomon’s reporting struck such a nerve that House Democrats—led by Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff, D-Calif.,—have sought to threaten and discredit him.

As part of an intimidation campaign, Schiff subpoenaed Solomon’s phone records and publicly released them as part of his committee’s impeachment report—in what some have deemed flagrant violations of longstanding privacy policies and First Amendment press freedoms.

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., formally requested the travel records of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

The request could signal the start of a formal Senate investigation into alleged corruption with the Bidens’ foreign business dealings in Ukraine and China.

Grassley, who is the chairman of the Senate Finance Commitee, and Johnson, who chairs the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, sent a letter to Secret Service Director James Murray this week requesting the travel documents

The request came as part of a probe into “potential conflicts of interest posed by the business activities of Hunter Biden and his associates during the Obama administration,” according to The Washington Post.

“We write to request information about whether Hunter Biden used government-sponsored travel to help conduct private business, to include his work for Rosemont Seneca and related entities in China and Ukraine,” the senators wrote.

The senators requested information on what sort of security detail Hunter Biden received while his father served as vice president, and a list of dates and places Hunter Biden went to with service detail. They also requested information on whether Hunter Biden traveled on government aircraft while making business trips.

Hunter Biden’s business dealings with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma were called into question after investigative journalist Peter Schweizer brought them to broader public awareness in March 2018, shortly before Joe Biden announced his long-anticipated presidential candidacy.

President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, former mayor and federal prosecutor Rudy Giuliani, then began to investigate the Ukraine dealings.

Trump’s request that newly-elected Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reopen the “dormant” investigations formed the basis of House Democrats’ recent impeachment efforts.

During the Senate impeachment trial, Trump’s legal defense team argued that abuse-of-power charges were invalid since there was legitimate reason to believe Hunter Biden, with the help of his father, was engaged in corruption in the region. Trump was acquitted by the Senate on Wednesday.

Joe Biden—who pressured the previous Ukraine administration to fire the prosecutor investigating Burisma by threatening to withhold a billion-dollar U.S. loan guarantee—has denied any wrongdoing and has continuously dismissed questions about his son.

“It’s a good thing that no one’s found anything wrong with his dealing with Ukraine except they say it sets a bad image,” Biden said last week when asked if Hunter Biden’s business dealings were wrong. “Well, he said he regretted having done it. Speak for yourself. He’s a grown man.”
