After Trump announced his administration would work to provide significant economic relief to struggling Americans, Omar effusively complimented his response.

Finally, we should never let politics get in the way of good policy. This is a great start and hope others will be part of a united front to push for good policies that will help us work through the economic anxiety the country is feeling right now.
Omar is not the only Democrat who has praised Trump for his recent actions amid the coronavirus outbreak. Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters on Tuesday that the White House has been nothing but “responsive.”
“His team is on it,” Cuomo said. “I want to say thank you.”
CNN’s Dana Bash also credited Trump, stating, “If you look at the big picture, this was remarkable by the president of the United States.”
“He is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone, today and yesterday, in tone, that people need and want and yearn for in times of crisis and uncertainty,” Bash continued.
Omar’s ability to “put politics aside” is a recent phenomenon. Just one day earlier, Omar blasted Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, for her father’s allegedly hard-line immigration policies.

(Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) Sen. Richard Burr, R-NC, defended himself under heavy fire after several media outlets accused him and three other U.S. senators of engaging in insider trading prior to the recent stock-market decline related to the coronavirus pandemic.
In response, facing calls to resign even from within his own party, Burr requested a Senate Ethics Committee investigation with full transparency, reported WRAL.
Burr, along with Sens. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga.; James Inhofe, R-Okla.; and Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., were accused of dumping a collective $11 million in stocks in late January and early February, as the virus made its way to the U.S., according to the Daily Mail.
Burr, who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, was receiving daily briefings at the time, as was Feinstein, who sits on the committee.
Feinstein, who sold roughly $6 million in stock—including investments in a biotech firm—has previously faced scrutiny for her husband’s close business ties with the Chinese government, and her longtime driver was revealed in 2018 to be a Chinese spy.
However, Burr faced the brunt of criticism over the emerging stock scandal amid accusations that he knew of the severity and publicly downplayed it.

On Feb. 13, Burr allegedly made 33 separate transactions, based on financial disclosure reports, to unload somewhere between $628,000 and $1.72 million, reported ProPublica.
“Burr is not a particularly wealthy member of the Senate,” said the article. “Roll Call estimated his net worth at $1.7 million in 2018, indicating that the February sales significantly shaped his financial fortunes and spared him from some of the pain that many Americans are now facing.”
The market has since dropped an estimated 30 percent after the World Health Organization last week officially declared it a pandemic, prompting widespread closures and cancellations of major events.
The federal government began emphasizing the need for broader response shortly thereafter, including a list of presidential guidelines for “social distancing,” daily task-force briefings and a trillion-dollar economic stimulus package.
While Burr sought to reassure the public of the government’s preparedness in early February, NPR reported on what it claimed was a “secretive” meeting he held with an exclusive group of North Carolina businessmen and organization on Feb. 27.
“There’s one thing that I can tell you about this: It is much more aggressive in its transmission than anything that we have seen in recent history,” Burr told the Tar Heel Circle at the Capitol Hill Club. “It is probably more akin to the 1918 pandemic.”
NPR said membership in the social group costs anywhere between $500 and $10,000, with representatives from companies that had donated more than $100,000 to Burr’s last Senate campaign.
Burr, who previously announced he is not running for re-election, insisted that, at the time of the luncheon, his warnings were publicly known.
In an eight-tweet thread late Thursday, he bashed the NPR report as “tabloid” journalism and defended his speech to the Tar Heel Circle.

However, some—including conservative investigative journalist Mike Cernovich—quickly took note of the fact that his tweets made no mention of the stock sell-off two weeks prior, when the reports remained cautiously optimistic.
At best, the reports underscore the deep uncertainty at the highest levels, the rapidity with which the virus wrought global havoc and the anxieties leaders faced in trying to relay information without triggering a mass panic.
But as public frustration grows over the health crisis, Burr may be a poignant symbol of the perceived failures in the system, motivated by personal greed.
Some already have expressed outrage that wealthy elites and celebrities seem to have better access to virus testing kits, and are taking the tests even without showing symptoms.
The trending of the Twitter hashtag #burrisma sought to link Burr’s actions with the corrupt Ukrainian business dealings of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter during the Obama administration.
However, as Democrats have repeatedly downplayed the Bidens’ Burisma scandal, it suggested that many of Burr’s current detractors were coming from his own side of the aisle.

Loeffler, who was recently appointed by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp to replace retiring Sen. Johnny Isakson, may also face political fallout in her November bid to hold the seat. Even before the stock scandal, she was facing a challenge from the Right by Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga.
Loeffler, a successful businesswoman prior to her appointment, reportedly sold up to $3.1 million on Jan. 24, the same day that the Senate Health Committee, on which she sits, received a briefing from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Collins harshly criticized her on Twitter after the story broke.

Despite President Donald Trump’s continuing to convey a message of optimism that downplayed the potential alarm even into March, the president’s recent pivot to a more somber and candid outlook has helped him avoid some of the fallout.
According to The Hill, the majority of Americans as of March 20 now approved of his handling of the national emergency.
Trump defended the four senators—even Feinstein, who led the 2018 smear campaign against Trump-nominated Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The president said on Friday that he considered them all to be “honorable people.”

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., defended the GOP’s decision to fast-track its stimulus proposal without consulting Senate Democrats.
“The Republicans are in the majority in the Senate,” McConnell told CNN.
“We wanted to put forward our proposal,” he continued. “We feel like we have an obligation to do that as a majority—and the Democrats, of course, need to be given an opportunity to react to it, and that all begins tomorrow. So don’t create controversy where there isn’t controversy.”
The stimulus proposal introduced by Senate Republicans would inject close to $1 trillion into the economy. The bill includes $200 billion in loans to hurting industries such as the airlines, $300 billion in forgivable loans for small businesses, and direct monetary payments to Americans under a certain income.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, said the threshold stipulation for direct monetary payments to Americans will need to be reworked.
“We are beginning to review Senator McConnell’s proposal and on first reading, it is not at all pro-worker and instead puts corporations way ahead of workers,” they claimed in a statement.
McConnell admitted that the coronavirus pandemic and the response it requires from the federal government is unprecedented.
“This is a totally new experience. So there isn’t a precedent you can look to, but we’re moving as rapidly as we can to try to deal with all these shortcomings and to—to get help to the American people,” he said.
“That’s why we’re here, and we’re trying to operate on a bipartisan basis to do that,” he added. “And I think we’ll succeed.”
Senate Democrats have produced their own $750 billion proposal, which includes $400 billion to shore up hospitals and other emergency operations in response to the global pandemic and $350 billion to bolster the safety net with unemployment checks and other aid to Americans.

(Michael Barnes, Liberty Headlines) Former Vice President Joe Biden has all but clinched the Democratic Party nomination for president, but the Wuhan coronavirus shutdown has crushed his fundraising at a time when he needs it most.
Biden’s presidential campaign was essentially broke after finishing fourth in the Iowa primary caucus and a fifth-place finish in New Hampshire.
But fundraising ballooned after Super Tuesday election results catapulted Biden into front-runner status over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The campaign says it received more than $35 million in donations since March 1, with most of it coming online. But that momentum has come to a screeching halt.
“It’s the pandemic, it’s the Wall Street performance, it’s the economic slowdown,” a Democratic New York City financier told Vanity Fair this week. “It’s your health and your finances that are on the line. So writing a check to Joe Biden is not a major priority.”
Rufus Gifford, an Obama campaign bundler, organized an LGBT fundraising party for Biden in Midtown Manhattan for Thursday night. Seventy-five tickets were sold at $2,800 each, but the event is no longer happening.
“The priority has to be public health,” Gifford said.
As both mass gatherings and smaller in-person events are now off-limits, the Biden campaign has shifted to online fundraising amid its recent internet donation bonanza, which one Democratic digital operative said was disastrously behind until a few weeks ago.
“It was a very old-school operation over there,” she told Vanity Fair.
But Biden’s digital fundraisers aren’t working. A virtual fundraising event was scheduled for Thursday, March 19, but was cancelled without explanation. The move comes after a recent online town-hall gathering was plagued with technical difficulties.
In contrast, President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee have far out-raised Biden and the DNC, often breaking records in the process. Last year, the Trump campaign and RNC raised nearly half a billion dollars. They raked in $60 million in January, and a whopping $86 million last month.
“Our record-breaking fundraising success month after month speaks to the incredible enthusiasm we are seeing for President Trump, and is fueling the greatest ground operation and grassroots army in history,” said RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.
Without help from Democratic mega-donors like Michael Bloomberg, whose tens of billions of dollars in personal wealth apparently have not been aimed at combating the coronavirus, Biden stands to be at a substantial cash disadvantage heading into November.

(Michael Barnes, Liberty Headlines) A federal appeals court ruled Wednesday that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service illegally designated thousands of acres of land in New Mexico a protected jaguar habitat, despite only a few jaguar sightings in the state over the past several decades.
The 2014 designation effectively punished ranchers and caused unnecessary fire hazards in the Coronado National Forest.
The court determined the federal agency was “arbitrary and capricious” in how it exercised its vast powers, and that it didn’t even follow its own rules when imposing its authority.
The government “did not follow its own regulations or provide a rational explanation for failing to do so,” the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals said in a 30-page decision.
The case has taken years to resolve, and the dispute boils down to federal bureaucrats playing word games “to stretch the limits of federal law beyond recognition,” said the Pacific Legal Foundation.
PLF, a nonprofit public-interest law firm representing three agricultural organizations that were affected by the designation: the New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau, New Mexico Cattlegrowers’ Association and New Mexico Federal Lands Council.
“This decision helps our clients and it helps Americans everywhere, because it reminds agencies that they must follow the law passed by Congress, and they must follow their own regulations,” said PLF Senior Attorney Christina Martin.
The Fish and Wildlife Service admitted that jaguars thrive in Central and South American tropical forests, where currently more than 64,000 jaguars live. Legally, this is their “primary” habitat. However, a few non-breeding jaguars have been spotted in small portions of dry areas in New Mexico and Arizona since the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Legally, this constitutes a “marginal,” “secondary” or “peripheral” habitat.
But Fish and Wildlife authorities during the Obama administration took control of thousands of acres of grazing land by arbitrarily deciding that a marginal and secondary habitat can simultaneously be a “critical” and “indispensable” habitat. By melding terms, the agency gave itself the authority to create harsh restrictions and permitting obstacles on ranchers.
“It’s not only an abuse of the language—it’s also an abuse of authority,” PLF said in a statement last year. The statement also said the entire affair was “an apparent effort to appease environmental groups.”
The decision comes after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously for the legal organization in a similar case in 2019.
According to its website, the Pacific Legal Foundation is dedicated to defending Americans threatened by government overreach and abuse. It currently has active cases in 39 states and Washington D.C.

(Michael Barnes, Liberty Headlines) As the Trump administration scrambles to implement an economy-saving stimulus package amid the coronavirus pandemic, congressional Democrats are taking advantage.
According to a non-profit energy watchdog, chief among the Left-allied special interest groups lining their pockets from the emergency is the so-called Green Lobby.
The American Energy Alliance warned Wednesday that House and Senate Democrats are sliding unrelated renewable energy tax credits and Green New Deal policies into the ballooning $1.2 trillion stimulus package that’s meant to stabilize public health, jobs and the economy.
“They are seizing the coronavirus pandemic as an opportunity to slip failed green policies into legislation designed to protect the American economy and stop the spread of this deadly virus,” said AEA president Thomas Pyle.
“The proposed inclusion of seven expired renewable energy tax credits will do nothing to stimulate the economy or help anyone’s general health, and will only line the pockets of renewable energy companies, the wind and solar lobby, General Motors and Tesla,” Pyle added.
The tax credits shift a significant portion of expensive electric vehicle purchases onto all taxpayers, subsidize wind energy and investment in solar and other “green” technologies, and provide taxpayer-funded incentives for energy storage.
But studies have shown that renewable energy is not only a taxpayer money pit with limited results, but in practice it’s often environmentally damaging.
The Democratic-led House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition and Senators Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., are leading the charge. Markey and Whitehouse also want to tie aid for near-bankrupt airlines to Green New Deal emissions policies.
“For industries that claim they no longer need the support of the government, we continue to see them try and capitalize on the suffering of everyday Americans in their pursuit of a seemingly never-ending stream of government handouts,” said Pyle.
The AEA points to the financial crisis of 2009, as evidence that Democrats have consistently disasters to prop-up the renewable energy industry and its various sub-groups with taxpayer-funded pork.
“The Democratic leadership should immediately admonish those in their party who are attempting to use this crisis to reward their green cronies. It is the height of irresponsibility,” Pyle said.
‘The indictment details highly specific allegations … that Russia made an active, concerted effort to subvert American democracy…’
(Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) As mainstream media huffed over their lack of credibility in the coronavirus pandemic, one of the many underlying reasons for the skepticism came to light.
On Monday, it was established no actual “Russians” were involved in the long-running Russia collusion conspiracy that ensnared President Donald Trump for the first two years of his term.
The only case #Mueller brought to prove “Russian interference” w/ any defense is now being dismissed by DOJ b/c prosecutors knew they couldn’t win at trial. Repeat: the DOJ could not find a single case they could successfully prosecute to prove any act of “Russian interference.”
On Monday, the Justice Department dismissed its case against the 13 Russians who were accused of “producing propaganda, posing as U.S. activists and posting political content on social media as so-called trolls to encourage strife in the U.S.,” according to the Conservative Treehouse website.
The case involved Concord Management and Consulting, LLC, one of three companies whose staffers were charged with conspiring to hack Democratic servers and spread misinformation via ‘bot’ farms during the 2016 election.
The February 2018 indictments by special prosecutor Robert Mueller and then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein immediately raised the eyebrows of conservative legal hawks such as Judicial Watch, which recognized the shakiness and potential political motives behind the case.

Even New Yorker reporter Adrian Chen, who had written about the company in a 2015 profile, sought to rein in the feeding frenzy during an MSNBC appearance.

However, most media not only declined to question the substance of the indictments, but reported on them as if they, themselves, were the evidence of conspiracy.
Some skeptics would later go on to question whether Mueller and his team—several of whom were proven to be biased against Trump—may have known well before the November 2018 election that the Russian collusion claims were false, but withheld the information in order to, themselves, interfere in an election.

Democrats retook the House of Representatives that November after campaigning largely on the debunked claims and promises to impeach Trump, which they ultimately did on an entirely unrelated pretense.
“Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals on Friday connected to Russia’s Internet Research Agency—a Kremlin-backed outfit whose employees posed as Americans and spread disinformation online in an attempt to influence the 2016 election,” the magazine reported at the time.
“The indictment details highly specific allegations—including names, dates, and the text of private messages—that appear to substantiate central elements of the U.S. intelligence community’s assessment that Russia made an active, concerted effort to subvert American democracy.”
Gateway Pundit also called out perjurious former CIA Director John Brennan for his false claims about what the indictments signaled.

Brennan himself has faced investigation for his alleged role in helping to plant the conspiracy theories as part of the FBI’s elaborate “Crossfire Hurricane” sting and then to leak them to the media via the now-debunked Steele Dossier.

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) MSNBC legal analyst Glenn Kirschner suggested President Donald Trump should be prosecuted for negligent homicide for “mishandling” the federal government’s response to the Wuhan virus outbreak.
Kirschner, a 30-year federal prosecutor specializing in homicide, claimed in a series of tweets on Tuesday that Trump could be held legally culpable for coronavirus-related deaths.

“I think it’s fair to observe that there’s nothing more devestating [sic] to a family then [sic] losing a loved one to ether [sic] violent crime or to an illness that could have been prevented or mitigated,” Kirschner tweeted. “I’m trying to assimilate all available evidence (rapidly developing and being reported every day) to fairly assess whether Trump and his administration may have acted/failed to act in a way that could give rise to homicide liability.”
Kirschner then urged his followers to “stay tuned” for an impending prosecution “if the evidence dictates it.”
Soon after Kirschner floated this idea, failed Democratic congressional candidate Mark Judson — who recently lost in a primary race for North Carolina’s 7th congressional district — agreed that the numbers could be held against Trump.
The calculation looks basically like this. The number infected would also increase as a result of Trump* in addition to the fatality rate.

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) The city of Baltimore announced it will stop prosecuting nonviolent crimes, such as drug possession, trespassing, prostitution, attempted distribution and violating open-container laws, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The reduced number of arrests and prosecutions is an attempt to prevent the virus from overwhelming Maryland’s prison systems, claimed state attorney Marilyn Mosby.
“An outbreak in prison or jails could potentially be catastrophic,” Mosby said in a memo to prosecutors, according to the Baltimore Sun. “Now is not the time for a piecemeal approach were we go into court and argue one by one for the release of at-risk individuals.”
Mosby has also asked Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan to free inmates over the age of 60, as well as inmates who have already been approved for parole or are scheduled to finish their sentences this year.
Mosby, who played a lead role in attacking law-enforcement over the death of Freddie Gray, is not exactly known for her stellar criminal justice record.
After several Baltimore cops stopped and searched Gray, inadvertently causing his death, Mosby prosecuted all six of the officers involved in the name of “criminal justice reform.”
The result was chaos, with looting and burning and protests becoming so violent that Hogan declared a state of emergency, established a curfew and deployed the Maryland National Guard. The U.S. Department of Justice later dropped the charges against the six Baltimore officers involved.
Mosby’s announcement comes just a few days after Philadelphia similarly instructed its law enforcement officers to temporarily stop making arrests for certain nonviolent crimes.
Under the new guidelines, those who would normally be arrested for drug offenses, theft and prostitution, would be held only temporarily, unless an “officer believes that releasing an offender would pose a threat to public safety,” according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
“Our mission is to protect and promote the health and safety of our officers and the community we serve to the best of our ability, while continuing to discharge every aspect of our core duties,” Philadelphia Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said in a statement.
Given the high crime rates in Baltimore, some are skeptical that Mosby’s directives will help.
Baltimore Mayor Jack Young had to beg residents to stop shooting each other so the city’s hospital beds could be solely devoted to coronavirus patients.
“I want to reiterate how completely unacceptable the level of violence is that we have seen recently,” Young said on Tuesday after seven people were shot. “We will not stand for mass shootings and an increase in crime.”
He urged people to put down their guns because “we cannot clog up our hospitals and their beds with people that are being shot senselessly because we’re going to need those beds for people infected with the coronavirus. And it could be your mother, your grandmother or one of your relatives. So take that into consideration.”
“For those of you who want to continue to shoot and kill people of this city, we’re not going to tolerate it,” Young continued, according to CBS-13. “We’re going to come after you and we’re going to get you.”
(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) The new chief of Border Patrol said his agency will not turn over illegal aliens accused of crimes if local law enforcement agencies can’t guarantee the illegals will be returned to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation.
This move is the federal government’s latest attempt to crack down on sanctuary cities and states that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration officers.
“My job is to protect the United States and to secure the borders, not to get prosecutions, so we are deporting people that have active warrants because the state will not give back that person to us, and we have to pick: federal law or state law,” Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott said, according to the Washington Examiner.
It doesn’t matter what kind of crime the illegal alien has been charged with if the local jurisdiction is going to just release the immigrant back into the public, Scott explained.
“If they will not give confirmation that they are going to return the individual, then we are not going to turn them over,” Scott said. “We’ll prosecute them federally, then deport them.”
Sanctuary policies put citizens’ lives at risk, said acting ICE Director Matthew Albence, who cited an inspector general’s report that there are more than 17,000 removable illegal aliens still at large because of sanctuary policies across the country.
