(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo blasted the Senate’s bipartisan $2 trillion relief package on Wednesday and argued it would be “terrible” for his state.

New York would get too little help from the bill, Cuomo said, despite the fact that New York’s cases are growing fast than any other state.

“What does it mean for New York state? It means $3.8 billion,” the Democratic governor said during a press conference.

While the state’s portion of the stimulus funding may sound like a lot of money, “we’re looking at a revenue shortfall of [as much as] $15 billion,” Cuomo added. “This response to this virus has probably already cost us $1 billion, and it will probably cost us several billion dollars when we’re done.”

The funding the bill allocates to New York is “a drop in the bucket, as to need,” Cuomo continued.

However, Cuomo’s criticism is significant given the role his ally, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, played in negotiating the package.

Cuomo evidently had no problem throwing Schumer under the bus, saying he is now turning to House Democrats to secure the aid New York needs.

“I spoke to our House congressional delegation this morning, I said to them ‘This doesn’t do it,’” Cuomo said, noting that the bill the House proposed would have given New York $17 billion. “I understand the Senate theory and the Republican theory, but we need the House to make adjustments.”

Schumer responded and admitted the bill could have been better.

“Like all compromise legislation, this bill is far from perfect—but it now does much more for this state, its people and its future than where we began,” Schumer said in a statement.

The House is expected to vote on the package on Friday morning, and Cuomo said he will lobby House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and the other Democrats in order to secure additional funding.

“I’m telling you these numbers don’t work,” he said, “and I told the House members we need their help.”

Cuomo, whose own presidential aspirations may be on the rise of late, has used New York’s status as an epicenter of the current health crisis to amplify his longstanding vendetta with President Donald Trump.

New York already faced a budget shortfall prior to the onset of the virus due to reckless spending on social programs paired with an exodus of wealth residents seeking relief from its excessive tax rates.

Among the items neglected by New York’s spending spree, however, were respirators, which a 2015 audit found a critical shortage of in the state.

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) A public radio station in Washington state announced it will no longer be airing President Donald Trump’s press briefings on the coronavirus pandemic “due to a pattern of false or misleading information provided that cannot be fact checked in real time.”

Trump and other members of his Coronavirus Task Force have held briefings almost every day to update the country on the spread of the coronavirus and what the federal government is doing to contain it.

The radio station, KUOW, did not give a specific reason explaining why it believes Trump is spreading misinformation, but other Democrats have criticized the president for appearing to contradict his health officials.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, pushed back on claims that Trump ignores the advice of his officials, while admitting that the president “has a very unique style.”

But Fauci said he was encouraged by Trump’s overall reception to his advice. “Every time I’ve asked him to do something—cut out China travel, or go to the mitigation guidelines—he’s ultimately listened to what I’ve said,” Fauci explained.

Trump’s handling of the coronavirus has been met with a favorable public response, with a majority of Americans saying they approve of the way his administration has tackled the virus.

This bump in the polls could be why KUOW wants to stop its audience from seeing Trump in action, according to White House spokesperson Judd Deere.

“It’s not surprising, but also a failure of their duty to the American people, that some media outlets would choose to block their audiences from receiving accurate, up-to-date information on President Trump’s whole-of-government approach to slowing the spread of COVID-19,” Deere told The Hill.

“No other Administration has been as transparent and as accessible as this one, and we will continue to make sure this Nation hears from its leaders and top health experts during this global pandemic,” he added.

Other major left-wing media outlets have since joined in the uproar by attempting to invalidate Trump’s statements and justify refusing to air them. But the backlash seems clear as the media’s own handling of the coronavirus crisis has led to plummeting approval ratings, according to a recent Gallup poll.

(Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) Left-wing efforts to suppress a major breaking story about a sex assault accusation involving Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden seemed to have failed after the Twitter hashtag #IBelieveTara and other variants began trending Thursday.

Meanwhile, the response from deranged Biden supporters signaled not only that the #MeToo-era mantra of “Believe Women” had come to an end, but that it had been replaced with a newfound license for vicious smear attacks against rape victims.

Reade, a former employee of Biden’s, went public with her story in graphic detail despite a controversial decision from the supposed women’s advocacy group Time’s Up to refuse to represent and support her during the 2020 presidential campaign.

“His hands were down my skirt and up my skirt,” she said in an interview via Skype with Hill.TV.

After the assault, Reade alleged, “He pointed to me and said, ‘You’re nothing to me.'”

Many liberals fell back on one of their favorite go-to tactics, deploying McCarthyist fearmongering with accusations of Russian collusion.

The Russia smear against Reade, first promulgated by the Atlantic, echoed the unsubstantiated accusations that failed 2016 candidate Hillary Clinton made in her effort to block Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, from becoming the first female president.

Ironically, Reade’s accusations—and the left-wing efforts to discredit them—also evoked Clinton’s attacks on several of those who accused her husband, Bill Clinton, of sexual assault during his 1992 presidential campaign.

Like the former president, Biden has had an extensive history of accusers documenting uncomfortable encounters. His hair-sniffing and inappropriate touching were closely scrutinized in the early days of his current campaign but have now, largely, become a subject of ridicule rather than concern.

However, according to at least one Twitter user, Biden’s sexual indiscretion has been far from innocuous going back to his early days as a first-term U.S. senator.

Left-leaning media, such as the New York Times, were nonetheless continuing to suppress the story as of Thursday, in dramatic contrast with the attention given to anti-conservative accusers such as Christine Blasey Ford.

Ford attempted to derail the 2018 confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh with unsubstantiated allegations about a drunken high-school encounter during the 1980s.

The shakiness of Ford’s claims—and those several other women who later recanted or, in once case, acknowledged that the story was completely fabricated—led radical activists, and even some members of Congress, to insist that female rape accusers must be given serious credence and weight under all circumstances.

But the Left’s silence on the new developments had some wondering if, perhaps, those past demands were politically motivated after all.

(Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) After leading a dubious effort to impeach the president, tearing up the State of the Union address and attempting to torpedo an emergency economic stimulus bill with a raft of radical leftist wish-list items, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has hardly proven herself to be anything more than a partisan hack.

Yet somehow the leftist media is aghast and mystified that President Donald Trump no longer was interested in engaging with the Democratic congressional leader.

During recent negotiations on the Wuhan virus relief package, the White House instead dispatched Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin to handle the task. It was unclear what Mnuchin did to deserve it.

“At this time, the president does not see it as productive to [personally] negotiate directly with Nancy Pelosi,” a senior administration official reportedly told the Daily Beast. “For now, it’s best for her to deal directly with Sec. Mnuchin and others in the administration.”

Heeding the Left’s call to ramp-up its attack-dog questioning during Trump’s daily briefings, a reporter on Monday took note, asking when was the last time he and Pelosi had spoken.

“Well, it’s—it’s been a little while,” Trump replied.

CNN quickly devoted its resources to ascertaining just how long the silence had lasted. Shockingly, they reported that Trump and Pelosi had spoken as recently as five months ago, at the height of the impeachment feeding-frenzy.

The two pointedly did not appear to be on friendly terms during the State of the Union address in January. The last attempt at détente, CNN discovered, was an October meeting about Trump’s proposed withdrawal from Syria.

During the meeting, Pelosi walked out and sought to smear Trump as having a “meltdown” while allegedly leaking sensitive details of the discussion. Trump, in turn, called Pelosi a “third-rate politician.”

“She had no intention of listening or contributing to an important meeting on national security issues,” recalled White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, according to CNN’s account.

“While Democratic leadership chose to storm out and get in front of the cameras to whine, everyone else in the meeting chose to stay in the room and work on behalf of this country,” Grisham said.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy echoed the sentiment, saying he’d observed it before.

“Unfortunately, the speaker tries to make everything political. Her own statements weren’t productive,” McCarthy said. “To storm out of the meeting, which I’ve watched time before during other crises, is really not the ability, or the style of how a speaker should carry herself.”

Leftist propaganda mouthpiece the Daily Beast led the charge in spinning the latest Trump vs. Pelosi talking point as early as March 11.

On the very day that most were reeling over the World Health Organization’s pandemic declaration, which has resulted escalating unemployment as the world struggles to contain the health crisis, the Daily Beast celebrated by trumpeting the notion that Trump might have to encounter his congressional nemesis face-to-face.

“All of official Washington has come to an agreement that swift, bold action is needed to counteract the dramatic economic impact of the coronavirus’ spread,” it wrote.

“But negotiations around such a package have been complicated by the fact that President Donald Trump can’t stand the idea of negotiating one-on-one with his chief counterpart, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi,” it continued. “Indeed, he suspects that she would use the moment to try to humiliate him.”

Those concerns were doubtlessly justified, given Pelosi’s past attempts to prioritize just that, plodding forward with impeachment (after first trying to delay it for leverage) and diverting the nation’s attention during the crucial early months when the coronavirus outbreak in China first became widely known.

But Trump’s refusal to engage the San Francisco liberal while he labored to tackle the crisis at hand, has paid off, with 60 percent public approval in his handling of it during daily press briefings.

Pelosi, meanwhile, signaled a possible intent to derail the stimulus bill. According to the Washington Examiner, her more-than-1,000-page counter-offer included among its pork byproducts:

  • A bailout for Postal Service debt
  • A mandate that airlines spend on carbon offsets
  • Required same-day voter registration
  • A federal $15 minimum wage
  • $35 million for the Kennedy Center

The bill that the Senate eventually passed is believed to have scuttled many of these demands, although losing valuable time.

Nonetheless, concerns lingered just before the passage Wednesday over a drafting that would have paid essential members of the workforce more to file unemployment than to remain employed.

The House is due to consider the bill on Friday using a unanimous consent procedure to avoid forcing it to reconvene.

(Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) The leftist mainstream media staked everything it had on the Russia collusion hoax and the Ukraine impeachment effort bringing down President Donald Trump.

Now, with their own credibility in shambles, they once again have put it all on the line to hype the unprecedented overreaction to a pandemic much like those encountered during the Obama administration.

But despite the ensuing coronavirus panic’s success in tanking the once-bullish economy, Trump has risen to the occasion, reinventing himself as a wartime president in response and holding daily press briefings to update the public directly.

As Trump’s approval returned to around 49% in recent Gallup polling, with his handling of the coronavirus pandemic crisis in the 60th percentile, his kneejerk critics suddenly reinvented themselves as well, insisting that there was no need to cover the briefings.

According to Business Insider, five major “news” networks decided to cut away from the briefing on Monday.

Among those going ballistic over the success of the daily briefings were MSNBC‘s resident Trump-bashers, Joe Scarborough and Rachel Maddow.

“If it were up to me, and it’s not, I would stop putting those briefings on live TV,”  Maddow fumed on her show this week, according to RealClear Politics.

“Not out of spite, but because it’s misinformation,” she claimed. “If the president does end up saying anything true, you can run it as tape. But if he keeps lying like he has been every day on stuff this important, we should, all of us should stop broadcasting it. Honestly, it’s going to cost lives.”

Other attack arms of the leftist propaganda machine echoed their solidarity, including the Daily Beast, the Atlantic and the Washington Post.

“These White House sessions—ostensibly meant to give the public critical and truthful information about this frightening crisis—are in fact working against that end,” griped Washington Post media columnist Margaret Sullivan.

“Rather, they have become a daily stage for Trump to play his greatest hits to captive audience members,” she continued. “They come in search of life-or-death information, but here’s what they get from him instead: Self-aggrandizement… Media-bashing… Exaggeration and outright lies.”

Meanwhile, former Bill Clinton Press Secretary Joe Lockhart aptly observed that the media’s doom-and-gloom emphasis on worst-case scenarios seemed to have run its course as more people tune in seeking optimism and hope.

And NBC’s Andrea Mitchell bemoaned on her show that, in spite of everything, the Democrats’ great hope, presidential candidate Joe Biden, was failing to get any traction on offering an alternative counter-message to Trump.

“There is politics involved,” Mitchell declared on Wednesday.

“We’ve heard very little from, for instance, the more likely, most likely nominee of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden,” she continued. “He’s having difficulty getting—projecting through this crisis as the campaign goes totally on hold.”

Biden appears to have entered into seclusion, conducting many of his appearances now via telecast from a home office, in stark contrast with Trump, whom outraged leftists have panned for ignoring his own guidelines about gatherings of 10 or more people.

Yet, many have surmised that the always flub-prone former vice president, who may now be in full-fledged cognitive decline, is avoiding public appearances not only out of social-distancing necessity but to prevent possible disasters that might result from his speaking off the cuff.

Even so, the withdrawal from public hasn’t helped Biden, who has managed repeatedly to flub reading from an off-camera teleprompter. He even made a bizarre claim while being interviewed by “The View” that a coronavirus cure “will make the problem worse, no matter what,” according to Deadline.

Now, as quickly as Biden ascended in the primaries to become the inevitable nominee, worried Democrats are already jumping ship. An online movement proposed using a brokered convention process, which would force elitist superdelegates in the party to ditch the presumptive nominee and, instead, draft New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

It was unclear if Cuomo, himself were connected with the movement. However, ignoring Trump’s overtures for cooperation and his own negligence in preparing for the pandemic, Cuomo has certainly made hay of the fact that New York has become one of the epicenters of the outbreak. He has used regular media appearances as a springboard to amplify his long-running vendetta with Trump.

Betting odds now have Cuomo above Biden’s only primary rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders, in likelihood to secure the nomination.

Criminal Released Early Due to Coronavirus Concerns Arrested Again For Attempted Robbery, Kidnapping

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) A Utah prisoner released early due to concerns about the Wuhan virus’s spread was arrested again this week after he forcibly broke into a woman’s home and attempted to rob her.

The criminal, 42-year-old Joshua Haskell, was released from Utah State Prison just two days before he committed his next crime.

He would not normally have been let go, according to the Deseret News, but “due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, he was suddenly released” on March 17.

On March 19, Haskell “forcibly entered [a woman’s] home … [and] using a large, serrated knife, he threatened the homeowner and tied her up with shoelaces.”

According to the Herald Extra, the woman was sure he was going to kill her.

He demanded the homeowner give him her car, cash, bank cards, and PIN numbers, repeatedly warning that he would “chop off her head” if she gave him the wrong numbers.

The woman’s son, however, heard her screams and called the police.

They arrested Haskell at gunpoint and charged him with the first-degree aggravated burglary, third-degree aggravated kidnapping, drug possession and possession of a weapon by a restricted person.

Haskell’s arrest is significant because Democratic politicians are actively demanding that state prisons release certain criminals early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reps. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., have all demanded for the “compassionate release” of incarcerated prisoners.

“I think now would be the time, to commute some sentences, to exact clemency and to take care of our most vulnerable. Ten percent of those incarcerated are over the age of 60 and already have an underlying condition. We should be using compassionate release,” Pressley told MSNBC.

Conservatives, however, have warned that early releases could have detrimental consequences to the public safety.

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) San Juan, Puerto Rico Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz claimed President Donald Trump is putting “the debt before the dead” in his response to the coronavirus pandemic, comparing it to his administration’s response following Hurricanes Maria and Irma.

“The President’s botched efforts after Hurricanes Irma and Maria cost the lives of approximately 3,000 Puerto Ricans,” Cruz tweeted Tuesday night.

Trump has suggested in the past that the death toll from Hurricanes Irma and Maria had been inflated.

It’s not clear how many Puerto Ricans died because of the hurricanes, but Trump has insisted that the estimate of 3,000 deaths was “done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico.”

Cruz has been a frequent critic of Trump, who was hesitant to send additional financial aid to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria due to the rampant corruption among the island’s officials.

Multiple reports later proved that Trump’s caution was well-founded. A handful of top officials were fired after a group of residents discovered a warehouse filled with unused hurricane supplies—supplies that could have aided the island’s struggling residents after a deadly earthquake earlier this year.

“There are thousands of people who made sacrifices to bring aid to the south and it’s unforgivable that resources have been kept in a warehouse,” said Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vazquez.

In response, Trump’s administration attached strict restrictions to Puerto Rico’s disaster aid and urged Puerto Rico to root out its corrupt leaders.

GOP Sens.: Stimulus Drafting Error Would Incentivize People NOT to Work

‘If you want to destroy what’s left of the economy, pass it  the way it’s written…’

(Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) After the Senate’s passage of an unprecedented $2 trillion economic stimulus bill to address the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, four GOP senators issued a warning Wednesday that a mistake could create even bigger problems.

The bill, as written, would encourage many wage-earners—including those in essential areas—to quit working during the current coronavirus quarantines and, instead, collect more in unemployment.

“If you want to destroy what’s left of the economy, pass it  the way it’s written,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham. “If you wanna help people, give them their wages, but don’t pay ’em more not to work.”

The unemployment provision in the bill, as written, allows those recently out of work to receive a $600 federal supplement on top of whatever they might otherwise receive in state unemployment benefits, which would typically be half of earned wages with a cap at a certain amount.

The goal, said Sen. Tim Scott, R-SC, was to use federal supplements to fully fund one’s wages during mandatory work furloughs.

However, “this legislation does not stop at 100 percent of your income,” Scott said. “This legislation would allow you, in unemployment, to make more than you do in employment.”

That would include members of the work force such as medical aides, restaurant and grocery workers who, while on the lower end of the pay scale, are providing essential services during the crisis.

“If you’re a nurse… you’re on the front lines here,” Graham said. But instead, “you’re gonna have all these well-trained nurses that are gonna make $24 an hour on unemployment.”

Republican Sens. Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Rick Scott of Florida joined the two South Carolina senators at the podium in seeking a last-minute amendment to correct the problem before the bill goes before the House.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., planned to pass it through unanimous consent rather than call the chamber back into session, meaning that the objections of any one representative could thwart it.

Graham said that they would soon find out whether the language in the bill was, in fact, a drafting error or whether it was a deliberate effort by Democrats to upend the existing pay structure.

“If this is not a drafting error then it’s the worst idea I’ve seen in a long time,” Graham said. “And that’s saying a lot given the fact that we’re in Washington.”

(Michael Barnes, Liberty Headlines) Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., wants communist China to pay for lying about the Wuhan coronavirus and allowing it spread around the world causing hundreds of thousands of infections and massive economic devastation.

Hawley introduced a bicameral resolution Tuesday calling for an “international investigation” into the Chinese Communist Party’s devious cover-up of the disease after Chinese officials first learned of it in November 2019. The resolution also calls on China to reimburse all nations impacted by the CCP’s lies and corruption.

“Since day one, the Chinese Communist Party intentionally lied to the world about the origin of this pandemic,” Hawley said in a statement. “The CCP must be held to account for what the world is now suffering.”

Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-NY, filed companion legislation in the House of Representatives.

Stefanik, a freshman congresswoman from upstate New York, earned the respect of President Donald Trump and high-ranking congressional officials for her skillful defense of the president during the House impeachment inquiry and Senate trial. She said critical information was knowingly withheld that could have been used to stop “the Chinese-born COVID-19,” and added that the “lies and disinformation” about the origin of the super-virus continue to this day.

“There is no doubt that China’s unconscionable decision to orchestrate an elaborate cover-up of the wide-ranging and deadly implications of coronavirus led to the death of thousands of people, including hundreds of Americans and climbing,” she said.

But China shows no signs of accepting responsibility. In fact, Hawley’s and Stefanik’s harsh words for the Chinese government pale in comparison to the ongoing despicable nature of the communist government’s disinformation campaign.

When the Chinese public first became aware of the disease in the city of Wuhan, the CCP blamed the Unites States military for the coronavirus outbreak and suggested it was a plot to crush China’s economy.

In late January, Chinese state propaganda accused the U.S. military of targeting people of Han Chinese ancestry with the disease because of the “poor performance of the American athletes” during the Military World Games in October 2019.

The bizarre assertion that the U.S. military was behind the Wuhan coronavirus has been allowed to proliferate on Twitter, with Lijian Zhao, spokesman and deputy director-general of the Information Department of Chinese Foreign Ministry, asserting the baseless claim as recently as March 12.

Hawley has been personally attacked by Chinese state-run media on Twitter. He recently fired back: “Makes my day to be attacked by the #China state-run newspaper owned by the #ChineseCommunistParty. And why? For speaking the truth: this virus originated in WUHAN, not America, & became a global pandemic thx to the lies & incompetence of the Chinese Communists in Beijing.”

He’s also turned his outrage on Twitter itself. “Hold on – @Twitter will take down posts by @realDonaldTrump but WON’T take down the #China Communist propaganda lies blaming US soldiers for starting #covid19 #coronavirus?” he asked.

Perhaps the most chilling case of lying and abuse involves the now-deceased Wuhan doctor, Li Wenliang.

According to the BBC, Dr. Li noticed seven cases of a mystery virus in early December 2019 that turned out to be the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Li alerted other doctors via an internet chat group about the budding emergency. But rather than celebrate them for their foresight, the doctors were punished at the Wuhan Public Security Bureau.

There, police told Li he was being investigated for “spreading rumors” and ordered him to cease all further communication about what would soon become a global health pandemic. Li was forced to formally apologize and sign a confession admitting to “making false comments” that “severely disturbed the social order.”

The virus quickly spun out of control, and Chinese authorities allowed Li to return to work to help combat the disease. He died several weeks later after contracting the disease from infected patients.

Hawley’s resolution expressly cites the timeline of events involving Dr. Li’s prescient warning about the Wuhan coronavirus, as one of many instances of Chinese government malfeasance outlined in the proposed legislation.

The resolution contains a list of CCP lies and instances of corruption that precipitated the current pandemic, including:

  • 1 – Ordering laboratories to stop testing for COVID–19 and destroy samples.
  • 9 – Withholding the known genetic information of COVID-19 from international health organizations.
  • 14 – Coordinating with the World Health Organization to announce, “no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus.”

Hawley blasted the WHO after learning that the international health body was helping the Chinese Communist Party deny responsibility for the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak.

The Chinese government also helped WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus obtain the organization’s top position in 2017.

The Missouri senator’s resolution demands that China compensate the United States and other nations for the harm it has caused and cites a British study showing that an earlier intervention by the Chinese government “could have significantly limited the geographic spread of COVID-19.”

‘Romney is in isolation? Gee, That’s too bad…’

(Claire Russel, Liberty Headlines) President Donald Trump trolled Mitt Romney after the Utah senator announced he had tested negative for the coronavirus.

Trump tweeted that he was “so happy I can barely speak!”

Romney has been self-quarantined ever since Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., revealed he tested positive for COVID-19. Because Romney had been in contact with Paul, he decided to be tested as well. When asked what he thought about Romney’s isolation, Trump said, “Gee, that’s too bad.”

Romney will remain in isolation for the remainder of the two-week period, according to his office.

Trump and Romney have often been at odds with each other. In fact, Romney was the only Republican to vote to convict Trump during the Senate’s impeachment trial, arguing that he could not in good conscience defend the president or his actions.

Trump responded to Romney’s vote by blasting him as a “failed presidential candidate.”
