Seattle Mayor Claims Fed. Presence in Blue Cities is a ‘Dry Run for Martial Law’

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan claimed on Monday that the Trump administration had sent federal officers to several Democratic-run cities in order to stage a “dry run for martial law.”

“He’s clearly targeted cities ran by Democratic mayors. He’s said so himself,” Durkan told CNN.

“He’s using law enforcement as a political tool—and I hate to say it, but I really believe that we are seeing the dry run for martial law,” she continued. “This is a president that is using law enforcement and federal forces for political purposes, and that should be chilling to every American.”

Federal officers have been stationed in Seattle and Portland to help control the violent riots taking place in both cities. This weekend alone, more than 60 local police officers in Seattle were injured, and 47 rioters were arrested.

Durkan, however, claimed that the protests were “peaceful,” and that any escalation of violence was President Trump’s fault.

“I believe if you look at what happened yesterday and Sunday again it was peaceful,” she said. “We had a number of peaceful protests, and what we’ve seen is every time this president promises to sow division he’s successful at it.”

Trump explained last week that he had no choice but to send federal officers to Seattle and Portland.

Rioters were attempting to destroy government property, and Democrat officials prevented local law enforcement from doing anything about it.

In Seattle, for example, the city council passed an ordinance forbidding officers from using crowd control tools, such as tear gas.

As a result, Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best notified private business owners that they’d be on their own if rioters turned toward their property.

“Seattle Police will have an adjusted deployment in response to any demonstrations this weekend,” Best told business owners, “as I will never ask our officers to risk their personal safety to protect property without the tools to do so in a safe way.”

Until the attacks stop and the violence comes to an end, federal officers will not leave Portland or Seattle, said acting Department of Homeland Security Chief Chad Wolf.

Their presence does not represent “martial law” or anything like it, Wolf said, but the agents will help restore order whether Democratic officials like it or not, added Trump.

Rashida Tlaib Refuses to Endorse Biden

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., said that unlike most of her fellow leftists in Congress, she will not endorse presidential candidate Joe Biden… for now, at least.

She had previously endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., but told Newsweek that she doesn’t feel comfortable publicly supporting Biden right now—not necessarily for ideological reasons, but because she doesn’t “want to get into a debate with my residents.”

“He hasn’t directly called me or anything, but, no, right now I’m focused on my election, my constituents and my residents,” Tlaib sad.

“One thing that I know is I’m going to be really focused on turnout in the fall,” she continued. “When I focus on turnout, we will deliver Michigan to Joe Biden.”

Tlaib said that by focusing on increasing Democratic voter turnout in Michigan, she will help Biden win.

But that doesn’t mean she wants to endorse him, especially since she doesn’t want to defend his moderate policies or frequent gaffes.

“Residents come up to me and say, ‘Rashida, I don’t know. I hear Joe Biden this, Joe Biden that.’ I say, ‘Listen, do we need another four years of Trump? No. Then what I need you to do is go out there and focus on that,’” she said.

She said the question as to whether he is the perfect candidate no longer mattered with the remainder of the Democrat pack now on the sidelines.

“My constituents don’t need to be bogged down in, ‘Is he the best candidate?’ That’s not what you have to convince my residents. They need to come out in droves and be inspired by something. And that is going to be a vote against Donald Trump.”

Tlaib is the only member of “the Squad” to not endorse Biden.

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez, D-N.Y., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., have both endorsed Biden, even though they also supported Sanders during the primaries.

But Tlaib said that if her “ultimate goal” is to unseat Trump, “that doesn’t have to involve me actually endorsing Biden,” she claimed.

Twitter, YouTube and Facebook removed a viral video of a group of doctors discussing the coronavirus pandemic and the misinformation being spread about the virus by health experts after President Donald Trump shared it.

The video, which had more than 14 million views, showed doctors in front of the Supreme Court debunking many of the myths surrounding the coronavirus.

They argued that face masks are not effective against the virus, and that the studies depicting hydroxychloroquine as an ineffective treatment against COVID-19 are “fake science” sponsored by “fake pharma companies.”

The doctors also insisted that “we don’t need to be locked down” to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Donald Trump Jr. and the president shared the video on Twitter, prompting the social media giant to temporarily suspend Donald Trump Jr.’s account, blocking his ability to tweet or retweet for 12 hours.

Twitter also removed the president’s tweets about the video.

A Twitter spokesperson said they removed the video because it is “in violation of our COVID-19 misinformation policy,” as did a spokesperson for YouTube.

A Facebook spokesperson similarly said that the video was removed “for sharing false information about cures and treatments for COVID-19.” 

But Big Tech should not have the right to decide what is and what is not legitimate information, said Donald Trump Jr.’s spokesperson, Andy Surabian. 

“Twitter suspending Don Jr. for sharing a viral video of medical professionals discussing their views on hydroxychloroquine is further proof that Big Tech is intent on killing free expression online and is another instance of them committing election interference to stifle Republican voices,” Surabian said in a statement.

AOC Wants to Defund Military Recruitment Efforts

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., introduced a pair of amendments to a defense appropriations bill that would bar the military from using federal funding to pay for its recruiting efforts in public schools or on digital streaming platforms.

The Democratic socialist claimed that military recruiters target low-income students, which she said is a problematic trend that makes minority and low-income students think they have no other “choice.”

“Whether through recruitment stations in their lunchrooms, or now through e-sports teams, children in low-income communities are persistently targeted for enlistment,” Ocasio-Cortez told the New York Times.

“In many public high schools where military recruiters have a daily presence, there is not even a counselor,” she continued. “As a result, the military stops feeling like a ‘choice’ and starts feeling like the only option for many young, low-income Americans.”

The military “can for some provide a rewarding career,” Ocasio-Cortez continued, but military recruiters stand in the way of low-income students receiving “anywhere near the same information or access to trade schools, college, or other post-graduate opportunities,” she claimed.

The House Rules Committee will consider Ocasio-Cortez’s proposals on Tuesday, but it’s unclear whether they’ll actually receive a vote.

Ocasio-Cortez has criticized the military in the past for its recruitment tactics.

When the Army and Navy began using Twitch, a popular streaming platform, to reach young adults, Ocasio-Cortez accused the services of turning “war” into a “game.”

“It’s incredibly irresponsible for the Army and the Navy to be recruiting impressionable young people and children via live streaming platforms,” she told Motherboard.

“War is not a game, and the Marine Corps’ decision not to engage in this recruiting tool should be a clear signal to the other branches of the military to cease this practice entirely,” she said.

Critics pointed out that the military often is the best choice for low-income students, and nothing in Ocasio-Cortez’s amendments could replace it:

BARR: DOJ Attorney Is Investigating Obama-Era Unmasking Scandal

During an exchange with Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, at a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Attorney General William Barr revealed he had asked US Attorney John Bash of Texas to look into systemic unmasking abuse during the Obama era.

The news surprised even Jordan, a close ally of President Donald Trump and the ranking GOP member of the committee.

Jordan had been asking about the progress of another DOJ criminal investigation, special prosecutor John Durham’s soon-to-wrap probe into the FBI misconduct that resulted in the “Crossfire Hurricane” sting operation.

Barr declined to answer detailed questions about the probe, although it came up several times in the course of the hearing, which also touched repeatedly on recent race riots and the decision to drop charges against Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, as well as intervening in the sentencing of Trump adviser Roger Stone.

Trump eventually commuted Stone’s sentence entirely. Flynn is still facing legal challenges after an activist judge took the unprecedented step of refusing to accept the DOJ’s withdrawal of the case.

While much of the unmasking scandal centers around top Obama administration officials’ abuse of power to implicate him in a perjury trap over his Russian contacts during the presidential transition, Barr said at the hearing that the abuses had been occurring for a considerably longer time than earlier believed.

Flynn’s sensitive security report was accessed at least 40 times by 38 different people between the November 2016 election and the January 2017 inauguration.

Among them were Vice President Joe Biden and several top intelligence officials.

Prior to the declassification of the information, Biden denied having had any direct knowledge of the FBI probe into Flynn.

But declassified notes from the FBI showed that he had likely suggested the agency’s use of the antiquated Logan Act as a way to ensnare Flynn.

It’s safe to say that Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-NY, who once tipped the scales at more than 300 pounds prior to getting bariatric surgery, may be a little worried about his risk factors for catching the coronavirus.

On Tuesday, the 73-year-old held a committee hearing to compel Attorney General William Barr to testify, despite Congress being otherwise closed in honor of the late Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., who lay in state nearby.

Nadler began the hearing about an hour late, saying he had been involved in a fender-bender.

Zooming it in from a remote location, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, continued the casual-Tuesday decorum breaches by allowing her phone to continue to ring while questioning Barr.

But the Democrat House leaders mostly held it together until after questioning by race-baiting Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond, when Nadler admonished three of his GOP colleagues for not wearing their masks in the socially-distanced chamber.

A flustered Nadler chided GOP Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Andy Biggs of Arizona and Mike Johnson of Louisiana, reminding them “to stop violating the rules of the committee, to stop violating the safety of members of the committee, to stop, um holding themselves out as not caring by refusing to wear their masks.”

After one of the congressmen asked Nadler, the committee chair, if it was permissible to drink coffee, Nadler curtly cut him off by replying “it is not permissible,” before pounding his gavel.

The chairman seemed to have no issues, however, as several Democrats not only ignored the face covering rule, but also breeched decorum by interrupting Barr as he tried to answer their questions.

Failed NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the White House’s leading health experts, will be awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Award, the organization announced on Monday.

Kaepernick and Fauci are examples of the “courageous pursuit of equality and justice,” the organization said in a statement, hailing them as “modern-day human rights defenders.”

Despite its noble-sounding rhetoric, the “human rights defenders” often tend to be far-left activists who have used their platforms to bash President Donald Trump and other Republicans in services of a specifically partisan agenda.

“Our country is yearning for leadership, for moral fortitude, for common decency and kindness, and this year’s Ripple of Hope laureates give us great hope for the future,” claimed Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, in a statement.

“Their work for equal justice touches every corner of society, sometimes at great personal cost,” said Kennedy, one of the late attorney general’s daughters.

“We are deeply honored to celebrate these changemakers, who have set forth countless ripples of hope at a time when our world is in such need of inspiration,” she added.

Other persons expected to receive the award this year are: Dolores Huerta, co-founder of United Farm Workers of America; Dan Schulman, president and CEO of PayPal; and Dan Springer, CEO of DocuSign.

In a statement responding to the organization, Kaepernick recalled his experience watching musician and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte receive the same award in 2017.

“I am humbled to follow the footsteps of individuals like Mr. B and to be in the company of all the other laureates,” he said.

The organization’s decision to honor Kaepernick comes as the nation re-litigates the debate over athletes kneeling during the national anthem.

Kaepernick began this trend, which many still see as disrespectful and unpatriotic.

But others, including NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, apologized to Kaepernick and asked him to advise the NFL’s new diversity-focused council moving forward.

Past recipients of the award include former President Barack Obama, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Trump Admin Reverses Obama Policy that Punished Suburban Residents

With so much attention paid to Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots in cities across the country, the Trump administration has quietly dispensed with an Obama-era housing policy that maliciously targeted suburban residents.

Under Obama, the Affirmatively Furthering Fair House Rule was added to the 1968 Fair Housing Act to expand the federal bureaucracy’s control over where people lived.

The rule, enacted through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, was a massive expansion of federal power that allowed Washington, D.C. bureaucrats to dictate zoning rules and other local housing decisions based on ill-defined “social justice” metrics.

But with the media’s watchful eye fixated on violent insurrections against federal law enforcement officers in Portland, Oregon, Chicago, Illinois, New York City and other Democratic strongholds, HUD Secretary Ben Carson was able to overturn Obama’s dramatic housing rule without much notice.

“President @realDonaldTrump and I agree that the best run communities are the ones run locally,” Carson tweeted.

“Today, we are tearing down the Obama Administration’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule, which was an overreach of unelected Washington bureaucrats into local communities,” he said.

Stanley Kurtz, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, called the policy reversal a “tremendous accomplishment.”

In a Fox News interview with Mark Levin, Kurtz told the host of Life, Liberty & Levin that Obama and his allies in the left-wing of the Democratic Party view suburbs as “fundamentally unjust.”

Suburbs are seen as discriminatory communities that prevent taxation from flowing into the Democrat-controlled urban cities they often surround, Kurtz said.

Carson, who once served as the director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, added that he remains committed to cleaning up other Obama administration messes at HUD.

“I am unwavering in my commitment to fair housing — when I arrived at @HUDgov we had a disappointingly HUGE backlog of fair housing complaints that the Obama Admin had forgotten about. From January 2017 to present, we have successfully resolved 22,933 cases,” Carson tweeted.

“In the @realDonaldTrump Administration, NO ONE WILL BE FORGOTTEN,” he said.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-NY, may have delayed his committee Tuesday after a car accident immediately beforehand that totaled his car.

Unfortunately, Nadler walked away unscathed—unlike dozens of recent victims during violent race riots who have seen their health and financial livelihood destroyed.

After finally arriving at the hearing, the House Judiciary Committee chair—who was humiliated after being sidelined at January’s impeachment hearings—wasted no time settling scores against Attorney General William Barr.

Barr quietly jotted notes as Nadler rattled off the full list of Democrat talking points, accusing the nation’s top lawman of everything from covering up Russian collusion to undermining the separation of powers (ironically, a charge that the Supreme Court recently criticized House Democrats for while shutting down their attempt to subpoena President Donald Trump’s financial records).

But nowhere did Nadler’s dissociative projection of his party’s own corruption seem more stunningly cavalier than in his claim that Barr had undermined the rule of law by allowing law enforcement to suppress “peaceful” protesters in blue-run cities throughout the country.

Two months into the riots, the scenes of destruction continue to unfold nationwide, making it unclear how Nadler hoped to score points with his demonstrably false attack.

But Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, let the images speak for themselves.

After rehashing the timeline of the Obamagate spying scandal to counter Nadler’s stale Russia collusion claims, the Trump ally and Freedom Caucus member launched into the 8-minute video.

It began with anchors of leftist mainstream media outlets echoing the “peaceful protest” refrain, as some of the soundbites were juxtaposed with images of destruction.

The video then cut to a brief statement by Ann Dorn, an active-duty officer with St. Louis police, whose husband, David, was killed during the riots while serving as a security guard.

He had only recently retired from the police force after 38 years of service.

“His life was senselessly taken from me—from us—by an opportunist who had no regards for human life, or the law,” Ann Dorn said. “This didn’t have to happen, but it must have been God’s plan for David.”

She made a heartrending appeal to the nation not to let her husband have died in vain.

“We need to come together as a community and do better,” she said. “We need to teach our young people that life is very precious. … We would like David’s legacy to be remembered…”

Many harrowing scenes follow, some difficult to watch as defenseless police defending a statue are pelted with a barrage of projectiles and motorists attempt (or succeed) in running them over.

During the video, one angry congresswoman can be heard yelling at Jordan to turn down the volume, although he appears to ignore the demand.

After 8 minutes passed, it was unclear whether the video had finished or if Nadler had it muted and stopped prematurely.

But the partisan congressman’s reaction offered a telling window into his line of reasoning as Democrats try to campaign on the need for more “empathy.”

“Well, I hope that Mr. Jordan will never complain about the length of my opening statement,” Nadler groused.

Nobel-Winning Stanford Prof. Says COVID Will Be Over in Four Weeks

An Oxford-trained, Stanford University professor is predicting that the Wuhan coronavirus will be over in roughly four weeks.

Yet, Democrat governors, the Biden campaign and the mainstream news media continue to insist that children cannot return to school at the end of summer, that mask-wearing mandates must be universally enforced and that the economy should remain locked down.

None of those measures are in-line with raw health data, according to Professor Michael Levitt.

“US COVID19 will be done in 4 weeks with a total reported death below 170,000,” he tweeted over the weekend.

Levitt used data to inform his declaration, based on regions that peaked earlier than the current hotspots.

“How will we know it is over? Like for Europe, when all cause excess deaths are at normal level for week. Reported COVID19 deaths may continue after 25 Aug. & reported cases will, but it will be over,” he continued.

Levitt is a professor of biophysics and has a PhD and Doctorate of Science from Cambridge University.

He was a Nobel Laureate of chemistry and complex systems in 2013 and is highly respected in both the United States and Europe.

But his coronavirus predictions aren’t fitting Democrat and media narratives ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

“Total population and totally annual natural deaths very similar to EuroMOMO area,” Levitt tweeted.

“Right now there are overall 414 reported deaths/million in US. If same as Europe, US about 80% complete. Certainly hope this is true and US saturates at no more than 170,000 deaths,” he said.

Levitt postulated that the severity of the Wuhan virus is diminishing.

“Could COVID be infectious in summer but with a much lower lethality? Are we now becoming immune with much less death?” he said.

Other experts and honest media observers have noticed similar declining trends.

Alex Berenson, a former New York Times reporter, has emerged as a leading dissident voice opposing the mainstream press consensus.

Berenson has noted that the media has shifted from covering COVID deaths, which are declining and mostly limited to older adults, to the number of positive cases.

However, widely reported spikes in the GOP-led states of Florida, Texas and Arizona are the result of dramatically increased testing measures and result in mostly asymptomatic cases.

“You say epidemic, I say a lot of people getting colds, let’s call the whole thing off,” tweeted Berenson.
