LA City Council Wants to Charge Texas Gov. Abbott w/Human Trafficking For Busing Migrants

(Headline USA) The Los Angeles City Council voted this week to pursue lawsuits against Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott for shipping illegal immigrants to the self-proclaimed sanctuary city, accusing him of participating in human trafficking.

The council voted unanimously on Wednesday for two motions to consider the suits against Abbott and the state of Texas.

“These motions are about investigating whether Gov. Greg Abbott committed kidnapping, human trafficking or any other crimes when he sent vulnerable families on a 23-hour bus ride with little or no food or water,” Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez said. “The message is clear that the city of Los Angeles will not accept this kind of behavior.”

Soto-Martinez went on to accuse Abbott and other Republican officials who have also bused illegal aliens out of their states into blue jurisdictions of using migrants to score “political points” and “playing with people’s lives.”

Texas has been overwhelmed by crime, a homeless crisis and dwindling local resources as a result of the swarm of illegals pouring across President Joe Biden’s open border. Abbott began sending buses of migrants to Los Angeles in June. He’s sent more than 10 buses with 400 migrants total to the city over the past two months, with one arriving during the council’s Wednesday meeting.

A spokesperson for Abbott, Andrew Mahaleris, blasted the Los Angeles City Council as “hypocrites,” pointing out that the city voted to become a sanctuary city in June, just one week before the first bus from Texas arrived.

He also pushed back on allegations that migrants were not properly cared for during the trip. Migrants “signed a voluntary consent waiver available in multiple languages upon boarding that they agreed on the destination,” he added.

Abbott said he will continue to ship migrants to Democratic cities until the Biden administration decides to take the border crisis seriously.

“Los Angeles is a major city that migrants seek to go to, particularly now that its city leaders approved its self-declared sanctuary city status,” Abbott said in June. “Our border communities are on the frontlines of President Biden’s border crisis, and Texas will continue providing this much-needed relief until he steps up to do his job and secure the border.”

Nikki Haley Says Senate Is A ‘Privileged Nursing Home’ After McConnell Freeze

(Headline USA) GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley mocked the U.S. Senate as “the most privileged nursing home in the country” after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., froze during a press conference.

The McConnell episode was the second in the past several weeks in which he has unexpectedly shut down in the midst of a conversation or question.

“It’s sad,” Haley told Fox News. “No one should feel good about seeing that any more than we should feel good about seeing Dianne Feinstein, any more than we should feel good about a lot of what’s happening or seeing Joe Biden’s decline.”

Haley called on McConnell to retire.

“What I will say is, right now, the Senate is the most privileged nursing home in the country,” Haley added. “I mean, Mitch McConnell has done some great things and he deserves credit. But you have to know when to leave.”

She pointed to recent polls that show a majority of Americans are concerned with the old age of politicians, including President Joe Biden.

“These are people making decisions on our national security. They’re making decisions on our economy, on the border. We need to know they’re at the top of their game,” she said.

McConnell’s office claimed on Wednesday he would resume his “schedule as planned” after consulting with a physician.

“I have consulted with Leader McConnell and conferred with his neurology team,” Congress’s attending physician Brian Monahan said in a statement. “After evaluating yesterday’s incident, I have informed Leader McConnell that he is medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned.”

However, several Senate Republicans appear to agree with Haley that it’s time for McConnell to step down. Sources told Politico this week that a faction of GOP rank-and-file members is quietly convening an emergency meeting to force McConnell out of leadership.

Joe Biden Laughs Off Question About Cooperating w/ House GOP Investigation

(Headline USA) President Joe Biden laughed off a question this week about whether he will comply with House Republicans’ requests for his bank records as they investigate his family’s overseas business dealings.

The president was asked about the investigation during a press conference with reporters at FEMA headquarters in Washington after he shared an update about the federal response to Tropical Storm Idalia in Florida.

“Hee-hee-hee,” Biden responded. “Let’s talk about why I’m here.”

Biden declined to answer the same question earlier in the week as he left the White House East Room, according to the New York Post.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., warned last month that Republicans would move to open an impeachment inquiry into the president if he refused to cooperate with their investigation.

“The whole determination here is how the Bidens handle this,” McCarthy explained. “If they provide us the documents, there wouldn’t be a need for an impeachment inquiry. But if they withhold the documents and fight like they have now to not provide to the American public what they deserve to know, we will move forward with impeachment inquiry when we come back into session.”

The House Oversight Committee has requested a wide range of documents stemming from Joe Biden’s vice presidency. Most recently, the committee asked the National Archives and Records Administration to hand over the more than 5,000 emails tied to Biden’s various pseudonyms, including “Robert L. Peters” and “Robin Ware.”

“Joe Biden has stated there was ‘an absolute wall’ between his family’s foreign business schemes and his duties as Vice President, but evidence reveals that access was wide open for his family’s influence peddling,” House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement. “The National Archives must provide these unredacted records to further our investigation into the Biden family’s corruption.”

Hulking Biological Male Trans Allowed to Continue Terrorizing Sorority

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) A federal judge used a leftist language loophole to allow a biological man posing as a woman to continue ogling and victimizing members of a college sorority.

Wyoming US District Court Judge Alan Johnson this week tossed a lawsuit that had been filed by six members of the University of Wyoming’s Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority chapter. The ruling came despite disturbing allegations that the 6’2”, 260-pound trans woman was a “sexual predator” who ogled sorority sisters and became physically aroused in their presence.

The judge ruled those concerns were irrelevant because the sorority’s bylaws don’t define what a woman is. “With its inquiry beginning and ending there, the court will not define a ‘woman’ today,” the judge wrote.

“The delegate of a private, voluntary organization interpreted ‘woman,’ otherwise undefined in the nonprofit’s bylaws, expansively; this judge may not invade Kappa Kappa Gamma’s freedom of expressive association and inject the circumscribed definition plaintiffs urge,” the court’s ruling ordained.

In what at the time was criticized as an unnecessary case of legalized doxing, the same trans-friendly judged had forced the six female members of the sorority to make their identities public before allowing their case to proceed. The sorority sisters said they feared physical retribution and public canceling for making their concerns known.

Those same concerns were what originally led the sorority sisters to file their lawsuit, which claimed “Kappa Kappa Gamma limits membership to women only,” but last fall “the sorority inducted a man, Terry Smith, as a member.”

Their suit claimed that “No other member of Kappa Kappa Gamma has comparable size or strength” and that Langford is “sexually interested in women,” even having a Tinder profile “through which he seeks to meet women.”

In the filing, one sorority member related a particularly unsettling encounter with the new alleged-sister who “walked down the hall to take a shower, wearing only a towel. She felt an unsettling presence, turned, and saw Mr. Smith [the pseudonym given in the complaint] watching her silently.”

Public backlash to the judge’s ruling was fierce, with one doctor writing, “Self-identification doesn’t circumvent biological reality. Enough of this.”

The self-professed sorority sister allegedly also regularly wore leggings with a visible erection. The lawsuit claimed that Smith was only admitted into the University of Wyoming’s chapter after intense pressure from the national sorority organization.

The judge overruled those concerns with this week’s ruling, allowing the allegedly trans-sister, Artemis Langford, to keep up the pretense.

“It’s very disheartening that when you’re a 6’2″, 260-pound man, you’re treated as the victim,” one sorority sister told Fox News. “We just need to protect women’s spaces.”

Cassie Craven, a lawyer with Longhorn Law representing the sorority sisters, said the case has far-reaching and disturbing implications. “This really isn’t about defining women anymore. It’s about erasing women. Now it appears that being a woman is nothing more than a clever game of semantics,” Craven told Fox News.

“Congrats to all the pronoun freaks. This is what your ideology has done,” wrote Mark Price, comms director for the State Freedom Caucus Network. “University of Wyoming sorority girls will now be forced to share their house with a 6’2 dude who gets erections while watching them change.”

Chicago’s South Side Residents Up in Arms over Plans for New Illegal Immigrant Shelter

(Corine Gatti, Headline USA) Chicago’s South Side residents slammed local leaders during a community forum for setting up a hotel shelter to care for illegal immigrants pouring into the city because of President Joe Biden’s dysfunctional border policies.

Amid growing discontent from the influx of illegals, hundreds of residents voiced their dissatisfaction with officials over the level of services the city was providing to current residents, particularly in predominantly black areas of the city. Those in attendance in the deep blue state cried foul over re-establishing the Lake Shore Hotel in the Hyde Park area of the city.

Issues brought up during heated meeting included residents questioning city officials if immigrants would be vaccinated and fingerprinted, how children would be educated and whether migrants were being housed in other parts of Chicago, the Gateway Pundit reported.

Other residents accused leaders of being insensitive towards the concerns of locals who were worried about an increase in criminal activity, as well as traffic and parking issues. Furthermore, they were concerned about the maintenance and upkeep of the areas where the migrants would be staying.

Adrienne Edwards asked who residents should hold accountable for the criminal activity from immigrants, as Chicago Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson has refused to condemn criminals and instead condemns people who want to keep them accountable.

“There’s been a lot of experience with disturbances in our communities,” she said. “(Our) current experience is totally different from the bullet points you’ve given us,” the Chicago Tribune reported.

“I don’t want them there! Take them someplace else or send them back to Venezuela I don’t care where they go,” resident Doris Lewis declared during the community meeting. “This is wrong. You got 73% of the people that are homeless in the city are black people, what have you done for them?”

Another person who attended the forum said he’d passed homeless people sleeping on his way to the meeting. “Will they have access to these facilities?” he asked.

Chicago has been receiving waves of migrants since last year, and there was disagreement on where to house them. The South Shore and Woodlawn neighborhoods are resisting the city’s plans to use closed high schools. Some migrants have been sleeping on the floors of police headquarters while being transferred between stations for events like the Lollapalooza festival.

As early as Friday, hundreds of migrants would be moving in despite the overwhelming response from residents. Currently, 1,900 migrants are waiting for placement, with many living at O’Hare and a few at Midway, according to published reports.

College Profs. Blame Pandemic for Students Stuck at 9th-Grade Math Level

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Several colleges and universities reported that students arriving at the schools struggled with basic math, likely due to extended online learning throughout the pandemic lockdowns.

George Mason University, Temple University and many other schools said their newer students appeared to struggle with 9th grade math and must go back and learn the basics, according to a report by the Daily Wire.

This year’s college freshman would have started their freshman year of high school in 2019, just as the COVID pandemic started. Some school officials reported that engineering and biology majors couldn’t handle very basic mathematical concepts, such as fractions and exponents.

George Mason University announced that record-low numbers of students placed in calculus, and many of those who made it into the course failed out.

“This is a huge issue,” Maria Emelianenko, chair of George Mason’s math department, told the Associated Press. “We’re talking about college-level pre-calculus and calculus classes, and students cannot even add one-half and one-third.”

Many students reported learning gaps through the virtual schooling of the pandemic.

“I didn’t have a hands-on, in-person class, and the information wasn’t really there,” said GMU student Diego Fonseca. “I really struggled when it came to higher-level algebra because I just didn’t know anything.”

Temple University revealed similar problems in their math department.

“It’s not just that they’re unprepared, they’re almost damaged,” said math chair Brian Rider. “I hate to use that term, but they’re so behind.”

Studies in school districts across the country revealed historic and worrisome learning loss as a result of lockdowns and virtual schooling.

Average test scores fell 4 points in reading and 9 points in math in comparison to the 2019-2020 school year.

Another report indicated that children between ages four and seven at the time of the lockdowns were 52% more likely to suffer from developmental issues.

Despite these abysmal failures, people dubbed President Joe Biden as the “education president.”

Teachers unions also tried to cover up the decline in test scores by claiming that learning loss simply made all of the students “equal,” providing a level playing field between racial demographics.

White Artist Denied Opportunity to Create Harriet Tubman Statue

(Robert Jonathan, Headline USA) An artist lost a $500,000 commission when Philadelphia officials cancelled his contract to design a Harriet Tubman statue for the city hall grounds.

North Carolina-based Wesley Wofford, 51, initially got the gig in March 2022 after his original sculpture of the revered and legendary abolitionist famous for the Underground Railroad received wide acclaim — including in Philadelphia — as a traveling monument honoring Tubman and celebrating her 200th birthday

The exhibit is known as “the Journey to Freedom.”

Tubman has historical ties to Philadelphia, including having headed there after escaping slavery in Maryland.

According to reporting by the New York Times, some local artists and community members insisted that the statue project, instead, be opened up to public bidding “in part because the artist Philadelphia had selected was a white man.”

Apparently because of the outcry, the city reversed the agreement with Wofford in August 2022 and opened the design selection process to any interested artist.

The city received 50 applications, including apparently one from Wofford, though the Times indicated that his role in the competition was in offering “a larger version of ‘Journey to Freedom’ at cost if Philadelphia needed a fallback plan.”

Working with an advisory committee, Philadelphia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (a.k.a. Creative Philly) subsequently announced five semifinalists.

Wofford, who has an extensive resume as a sculptor that includes Oscar and Emmy Awards, was not among them.

Through Sept. 1, the public was invited to provide online input on the five proposed designs. A group of stakeholders is scheduled to select the winner in October.

All of the semifinalists are reportedly black.

Kelly Lee, Creative Philly’s executive director, said that “Race was not a specific criterion in the selection process.”

Lee added that “We looked at the artists who applied to ask about whether or not they reflected the diversity of the Philadelphia community.”

Reflecting on the months of public debate about the process, Wofford remarked that “Art is supposed to be a universal language that transcends gender, race and culture…I didn’t have much of a voice. No one wanted to hear from me.”

He did receive support from some members of Tubman’s family who released the following statement:

“Harriet Tubman worked with people of all races who were like-minded, and Mr. Wofford is like-minded. Harriet Tubman stood for people of all races.”

According to the Times, “The controversy over the Tubman statue is part of a broader conversation in the art world about to what extent racial identity should matter.”

Creative Philly’s original plan was to simply buy the nine-foot, bronze touring version — which has bookings around the country well into next year — of the Tubman statue.

That option apparently came off the table, however, because the art was made pursuant to a private commission from another client.

Michigan Dems Criminalize Forensic Exams of Voting Machines

0

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Investigators in the state of Michigan will no longer be permitted to examine voting machines to ensure the integrity of elections, the Detroit Free Press reported.

At the center of the Democrats’s attempt to end the careers of anyone who questioned the 2020 election is Michigan lawyer Stefanie Lambert, who is a licensed private investigator.

Lambert led the charge in the attempt to ensure that Michigan’s 2020 election results were not fraudulent, following the lead of states like Arizona.

At the time, Lambert said that she was committed to making sure that every legal vote was counted.

“If you don’t have your vote counted as it was intended to count, we don’t have a free country,” she said.

With help from assistants, she acquired and examined five voting machines by legal means, at least at the time.

But now Lambert faces charges for the investigations that she engaged in as Democrats try to argue that she illegally obtained one of the voting machines that she and her team examined.

In other words, Michigan Democrats invented a new rule, then applied that post hoc rule back on to the past.

As a result, Lambert faces charges at the hands of special prosecutor DJ Hilson. She has pleaded not guilty.

Lambert’s attorney, Michael Smith, suggested that Hilson is engaged in a  “malicious prosecution.”

“My client was a zealous advocate for her clients, and she did not violate the law,” Smith continued.

According to the Free Press report, the Michigan election investigation may have ties to to the ongoing Georgia investigation.

While Lambert and her team investigated voting machines on Royal Oak, Michigan, investigators in Georgia allegedly sent a data drive from the state to Michigan, presumably in order to show Michigan investigators how the machines can be manipulated.

Matt Gaetz Moves to Abolish the Post Office’s NSA-Like Surveillance Program

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) When the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s secret Internet Covert Operations Program, or iCOP, was revealed by Yahoo News in 2021, many observers asked the logical question: Why does the post office need to spy on social media?

A member of Congress is finally doing something to address that troubling question.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., introduced legislation last month that would abolish iCOP. Gaetz’s legislation would prohibit any federal funds, including amounts available in the Postal Service Fund, from being used by USPIS to carry out iCOP, or any other similar program.

“The Postal Service should be focused on delivering the mail on time and on budget, not running a covert surveillance program to monitor political behavior on social media,” Gaetz said in a press release.

“This program is not only outside USPIS’ jurisdiction and infringes on American citizens’ civil liberties but is more evidence of the government-sanctioned spying on its own citizens. Congress must immediately abolish this program.”

In March 2022, the USPS Inspector General released a report stating that “certain proactive searches iCOP conducted using an open-source intelligence tool from February to April 2021 exceed the Postal Inspection Service’s law enforcement authority.”

But since then, there has been no indication that USPS has shut down iCOP, likely meaning that this surveillance program is still violating Americans’ privacy and seeking to curb their First Amendment rights.

Postal Police Officers Association President Frank Albergo has also criticized the USPIS for devoting resources to iCOP while cutting back on postal police officer amidst spiking mail theft.

In 2022, 412 USPS letter carriers were robbed on the job, according to a Postal Service press release from earlier this month. Additionally, the agency reported an increase in high volume mail theft incidents from mail receptacles: 38,500 2022 and more than 25,000 in the first half of fiscal year 2023.

“According to the Inspection Service, it has the power to conduct surveillance on every piece of mail but does not have the power to deploy uniformed postal police officers to protect the mail and postal workers,” Albergo told Headline USA in May.

“Can you imagine a law enforcement agency that doesn’t want their uniformed law enforcement officers to enforce the law? Actually, in this day and age, you probably can imagine it.”

Privacy advocates have applauded Gaetz for his legislation.

“The program was also used to monitor conservative-leaning social media sites for potential violent activity by groups like the Proud Boys. You don’t have to defend the extreme views of some of these groups to feel the tug of the slippery slope,” the Project for Privacy & Surveillance Accountability said in a press release about the matter.

“PPSA is pleased to see Rep. Gaetz’ bill begin to address the widespread practice of federal monitoring of Americans’ internet posts. In the era of digital communications, it is worrying to see the USPS transition from a postal to a surveillance agency,” the group said.

“Congress must take steps to reign in this covert and lesser-known form of government spying now.”

‘Historic’ Press Sec. Claims Biden Has Done More for Border than Anyone Else

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that President Joe Biden and his administration did more to secure the southern border in his presidential tenure than anyone else.

Ed O’Keefe, CBS White House correspondent, asked Jean-Pierre how she would respond to Democrat officials claiming the president should do more to protect the border, according to the Daily Caller.

“The president has done more to secure the border, to deal with this issue of immigration, than anybody else,” the press secretary said. “He really has. June saw the single largest month-to-month drop in unlawful border crossing because of the policies this president put in place.”

Jean-Pierre said the government increased funding to agencies such as Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other national security organizations.

“We’ve got a record number of federal agents and officers, more than 24,000, working to secure the border because of the funding this president secured,” she concluded.

States across the nation—particularly those with sanctuary cities—sent in requests for federal funding as they attempted to grapple with the influx of illegal immigrants in their cities.

New York City initially attempted to house migrants in 5-star hotels, contracting the businesses with taxpayer money in order to keep the illegals off the streets.

Recently, they shifted to a temporary encampment but met resistance from locals who don’t want more migrants coming into their neighborhoods.

In order to move them off the streets, Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a program to provide illegals with work permits and give them jobs, even with hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers out of work.

The border town of El Paso, Texas, faced similar issues en-masse, as they took the brunt of the migrant surge that came over the border after Title 42 expired.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration advanced its war against the energy industry by evoking the significance of the dunes sagebrush lizard as an endangered species, preventing drillers in Texas from drilling for oil.

Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, invited Biden and other Democrat officials to visit the communities they would destroy in the name of this lizard, along with those ravaged by the border crisis.
