NYC Mayor Recommends Housing Illegal Immigrants on Cruise Ships

'So we have to find temporary measures to address this issue... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) The leftist Democrat mayor of New York City suggested that migrants being bused to his city from the southern border could temporarily live on cruise ships.

Mayor Eric Adams pitched the proposal during an interview on WCSB’s The Point with Marcia Kramer, the Daily Wire reported.

“[W]e examined everything from the legality of using any type of cruise ship for temporary housing. We’re looking at everything to see, how do we deal with this?” Adams told Kramer.

Kramer followed up with a question concerning the high seas option:

“I want to pursue this thing about the cruise ships. Is that really a possibility that you might be able to do that?” Kramer asked.

“We’re looking at that,” Adams responded. “We are predicted with the influx of opening, probably, 38 additional emergency shelters. So we have to find temporary measures to address this issue.”

In a second interview on ABC’s This Week, Adams called for more coordination as well.

“These migrants and asylum seekers are not coming to any particular city, they’re coming to America,” the mayor claimed. “This is an American crisis that we need to face – a humanitarian crisis that were made by human hands by some of the governors in our southern states.”

Despite calling the situation a crisis, the number of illegal immigrants bused to the city is barely a drop in the bucket compared to what towns along the southern border are facing.

Adams reported that 11,000 migrants had been bused to his city in the interview with WCBS, but previously said only 2,500 had been sent to New York.

Illegal immigrants have also been bused to Washington D.C., Chicago and Martha’s Vineyard.
