(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) On the eve of an unprecedented arraignment for felony criminal charges against a former president under the direction of the sitting president’s Justice Department to target the Republican frontrunner in the 2024 bid to oust Joe Biden, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., excoriated mainstream media for “weaponizing” its political coverage.
“Are your prepared to defend your network?” McCarthy asked a CNN reporter Monday, when he ripped the network’s gaslighting of Biden’s politically weaponized indictment of Trump, after being pressed on whether he was prepared to defend the former president.
“Even though your network hired Andrew McCabe, who was fired from the FBI for leaking classified documents,” McCarthy continued, undeterred by the reporter’s interruption.
“Did you remove him from your network? No, you continued to put him on to give judgement against President Trump,” McCarthy said.
And that was just once example. McCarthy also derided CNN for hiring and giving a platform to disgraced former NIS chief spook James Clapper.
“So your network hires Clapper, who literally lied to the American public, one of 51 other individuals who had briefings and used it politically to tell the American public that a laptop was Russia collusion, even though it had all this information about the Biden administration,” McCarthy said.
“Are you prepared to get rid of those people from your network? Because my concern as a policy-maker is that when you weaponize government, and now you’re weaponizing networks, that is wrong.”
The problematic conflict is real and pervasive McCarthy said, as Biden regime media collaborators push a biased and fabulist narrative on the public.
“I have a real problem that your network actually pays people who did classified information and then lied to the American public to try to influence a presidential election, and you put him on your network to give an opinion about a president,” McCarthy said.
Republican presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy was equally critical of fake news’ leftist bias in covering the Biden DOJ and the Trump indictment.
“The job of the political media, if it has one job, is to hold the U.S. government accountable,” he said. “Instead … you’re seeing the media doing the bidding of the U.S. government.”
Ramaswamy on Monday filed a freedom of information request with the Justice Department demanding the release of all documented exchanges between the Biden White House, Merrick Garland’s DOJ and special counsel Jack Smith regarding what he called the unprecedented politically-weaponized indictment of the former president.
“Ask the question. Get to the bottom of what Biden told Garland and Garland told Jack Smith,” Ramaswamy said. “If the same shoe fit the other foot you would not take their word at face value. Do not take their word now.”
