(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Renowned conservative commentator Mark Levin recently delved into the history of U.S. elections, drawing attention to the 2000 presidential election while addressing contemporary political debates.
During a Sunday segment on Liberty and Levin, Levin discussed the events surrounding the disputed 2000 election and questioned why former Vice President Al Gore and former challengers to presidential elections throughout history were not prosecuted.
Levin highlighted the contrast between historical incidents and the present-day perception of events, particularly referencing the January 6 Capitol riot.
“January 6 — this past cycle — was said to be an insurrection and President Trump was said to be building seditious conspiracy theories,” Levin remarked. “We had a whole January 6 Commission set up by Nancy Pelosi. She picked the Democrats and the Republicans. She rejected the Republicans that Leader McCarthy had chosen.”
Turning to the 2000 election, Levin provided a comprehensive analysis. He recounted how Al Gore’s legal challenges unfolded after the election came down to a few hundred votes in Florida.
“Al gore brings first lawsuit it is then litigation hell, different districts throughout the state, and trying to find judges that would up hold this part of law the that part of the law,” Levin remarked.
Levin also drew attention the Florida Supreme Court, which came under scrutiny from the U.S. Supreme Court. He said, “Meanwhile the radical left wing Democrat-control Florida Supreme Court steps in and it keeps changing the law, changing the law, changing the law, to try to get gore over the finish line, U.S. Supreme Court steps in and says, ‘That’s enough.'”
Earlier in the segment, Levin raised an intriguing point by questioning why challengers to elections had faced no legal consequences until Trump. Specifically, he said, “It’s amazing, nobody was indicted, nobody was charged with anything.”
He contrasted this with the prevailing narrative surrounding the events of January 6, suggesting a double standard in how these incidents have been treated.
In an interesting turn, former President Donald Trump had taken to his social media platform, Truth Social, to encourage his supporters to watch Levin’s Fox News show. This move by Trump showcases the ongoing influence and collaboration between conservative figures and media outlets.
On a Sunday post, Trump said, “[Levin] gets the Fake Indictments, Voter Fraud, and Election Interference better than anyone, and he’s not afraid to say it – PATRIO! 10 minutes.”
Levin’s comments come in the wake of another recent statement he made on Twitter, where he speculated about the potential use of the Supremacy Clause for a self-pardon by Trump from state charges.
