(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former President Donald Trump, faced disturbing vitriol from leftist social media users who are calling for her arrest after New York Judge Arthur Engorron ordered her on Friday to take the stand against her father.
“Ivanka Trump should be in prison just like the rest of that grifting crime family, agree?” said Twitter user “Rich from CA,” a self-proclaimed strategist and political activist. Another user added, “On this is good stuff. She’s not a defendant, so does she bury Daddy and the idiot twins or perjure herself and risk jail time?? Poor Vanky. Decisions, decisions.”
Engorron, presiding over the civil case against the Trump Organization, issued the order for Ivanka to take the stand in the trial initiated by New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat.
Engorron’s ruling came in defiance of the Trump legal team’s efforts to shield the former first daughter from testifying. “I want to see her in person. That is how we prefer testimony,” Engorron said, as reported by the New York Post on Friday
Ivanka is now set to give her testimony, followed by her brothers, Eric and Don Jr. Trump. Initially named as a defendant in the case, she was later removed following intervention by an appeals court. Her legal representatives had previously argued that a subpoena forcing her to testify constituted “continued harassment.”
Ivanka maintained that she no longer has any business ties in New York subject to the case’s jurisdiction. However, Engorron dismissed this defense, stating, “Ms. Trump has clearly availed herself of the privilege of doing business in New York.”
Lawyers representing James emphasized the significance of Ivanka’s testimony, highlighting her close association with the Trump Organization.
“While no longer a Defendant in this action, she indisputably has personal knowledge of facts relevant to the claims against the remaining individual and entity Defendants,” attorneys representing James claimed. “But even beyond that, Ms. Trump remains financially and professionally intertwined with the Trump Organization and other Defendants and can be called as a person still under their control.”
