Leftist Poet Laureate Criticized for Her Anti-American Poem

‘Amanda Gorman is the women's soccer of poetry. Her work is bad and boring but we pretend occasional enthusiasm because virtue signaling...’

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) The leftist National Youth Poet Laureate tweeted a poem on Independence Day that mocked the national anthem, the American flag and the country itself.

On July 4, Amanda Gorman, like any other leftist, could not hide the fact that she hates the country in which she prospers by tweeting a poem that mocked the national anthem and everything America stands for, according to Breitbart.

Twitchy reported that Gorman is a poet and an activist who writes about “issues of oppression, feminism, race, and marginalization, as well as the African diaspora.”

She also recited her poetry at Joe Biden’s “inauguration ceremony,” so it is not a surprise that she would write something like this. Even though leftist fans praised her poem, the majority of people criticized it.

T. Becket Adams said in his tweet that at first, he thought it was just a “drunk version” of the national anthem.

The replies to Adams’s tweet weren’t worse.

“And yet her abortion poem was still somehow worse,” AnnaZ tweeted. “It’s all quite painful.”

AnnaZ then posted Gorman’s poem, in which the National Youth Poet Laureate showed that she doesn’t know that the word “handmade” is actually spelled “handmaid.”

Another Twitter user said that the poem was more proof that the Left is insane.

“Further proof the left [lives] in an alternate reality psychosis. Mental illness that is fostered and encouraged rather than properly treated. Sick.”

Kari Hayes wrote that she hopes that eventually normal people would get tired of these leftists, start ignoring them and they would disappear.

“At some point, surely the American public will grow tired of hearing the contestants of the Victimhood Olympics reach ever expanding depths of stupidity and will ignore them until they shrivel up and blow away,” she said.

“One can only hope.”

The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro offered a nice summary of Gorman’s poem, as well as the reaction it has spawned in some quarters.
