(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) An Indiana elections panel has exonerated Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., of false charges made against him in connnection with the Jan. 6 witch hunt, the Washington Times reported.
Since the uprising in early 2021, the Left has been desperately attempting to disqualify anyone remotely involved from public life.
Most recently, an activist effort led by election-stealing DNC attorney Marc Elias, has pushed the idea of declaring candidates who supported the rally ineligibile under an obscure post-Civil-War provision of the 14th Amendment.
“Many Democrats in Washington hope to weaponize the 14th Amendment to disenfranchise President Trump’s 74 million voters,” Banks said in a statement said following his exoneration. “I hope they watched today’s unanimous decision.”
Banks said his political adversaries across the aisle were hoping, once again, to change the rules ahead of the November midterm election, when many expect a red wave to retake Congress for Republicans.
“Congressional Democrats know that they are toast after November,” he wrote. “Instead of fighting fair, or implementing policies to help Americans and their electoral chances, they’re trying to rig the game.”
Banks was one of the few members of the House of Representatives or the Senate to oppose the certification of now-President Joe Biden following the disputed 2020 election.
At least one other congressman, Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-NC, is facing a similar attack from state activists, who appear to be backed by North Carolina’s partisan state election’s board.
“I’m glad they came for me first, because it’s time to play for keeps and not pull any punches,” Cawthorn told Headline USA in a recent interview.
“I wasn’t surprised, unfortunately, by their attack on freedom,” he added. “It’s a reminder of how Machiavellian, evil and aggressive the woke mob is.”
