(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) The Southern Poverty Law Center, a radical Leftist group with ties to former President Barack Obama, is working with the House’s J6 Inquisition to smear former President Donald Trump.
The SPLC has given the committee 40 pages of research and written testimonies that allegedly tie Trump to extremist activities, Politico reported.
“Our work has helped to document coordination between Trump, his allies and two extremist groups we’ve tracked for years,” said Michael Lieberman, SPLC senior policy counsel on hate and extremism.
The specific details of the SPLC’s research and testimonies have not been disclosed, but the group’s deep ties to Democrat politicians indicate that they do not intend to give Trump a fair assessment.
President Joe Biden has nominated partisan activists from the SPLC to positions in the federal courts and the Education Department.
The SPLC also employed Tina Tchen, Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff, to help the group “restructure” amid sexism and racism allegations.
The SPLC parades as a “nonpartisan” research group that fights hate and extremism, but it describes mainstream and right-wing Christian and conservative groups as “hateful” in an attempt to silence them.
Hayden Ludwig, a senior researcher at Capital Research Center, called the SPLC “the Left’s top censor for groups it wants to shut down.”
“Painting right-leaning groups that support widespread, traditional beliefs as ‘extreme’ is just a way of shutting down debate so leftists don’t have to defend their own radical views,” he added.
The Alliance Defending Freedom, which routinely wins cases before the Supreme Court, is classified as a hate group by the SPLC because it promotes “religious liberty legislation and case law” that “attack…LGBTQ rights.”
Jerry Boykin, executive vice president of Family Research Council, told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the SPLC will target anyone who opposes its agenda.
“Anyone who opposes the SPLC, including many Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, and traditional conservatives, is slandered and slapped with the ‘extremist’ label or even worse, their ‘hate group’ designation,” he said.
