House Spending Spree Includes Big Bucks for ‘Free’ Tampons on Capitol Hill

'It's time for the seat of our nation's democracy to take the lead in providing this basic necessity... '

(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) American citizens have come to expect that the corrupt federal bureaucracy will always put itself first.

In the halcyon Obama years, it was administrative agencies like the IRS buying up all the guns and ammunition available on the market, even as director Lois Lerner targeted conservative political groups for tax investigations.

But these are more absurd times under President Joe Biden, and Americans now get to watch as Leviathan counters a national tampon shortage by stuffing D.C. government bathrooms with “hygiene products” for feds who menstruate, according to Roll Call.

Rep. Grace Meng, D-N.Y., who in May 2021 commemorated “Menstrual Hygiene Day” by introducing the Menstrual Equity for All Act, has called on the  Architect of the Capitol to make bulk purchases of tampons and make them available free of charge in legislative branch bathrooms.

“It’s time for the seat of our nation’s democracy to take the lead in providing this basic necessity,” Meng told reporters.

“Nobody should ever be forced to put their health in jeopardy and suffer embarrassment and stigmas because they’re unable to afford menstrual products.”

At Hot Air, Karen Townsend criticized Congress’ addiction to spending taxpayer money.

“What other personal products will taxpayers be expected to pay for next? Shampoo? Shower gel?” Townsend wrote. “It’s taxpayer money and to label them as ‘free supplies’ is to soften the truth.”

But Meng has said in the past that she considers access to tampons to be a basic human right for “anyone who menstruates”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., highlighted the absurdity of the federal government’s neurotic activities in early June.

“‘People who menstruate’ can’t find tampons,” MTG wrote. “Has anyone checked . . . men’s restrooms?”

Then, in an appearance on RSBN, Greene joked that men are “taking over everything” from women’s supports to feminine products.

“They’re ‘Women of the Year’ in every category and the latest news is now there’s a shortage of tampons,” Greene said. “And that’s probably because men are buying tampons.”
