Fox News Marks 20 Years Atop Cable News Ratings

(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) When January ended, Fox News became the first cable news network to hold the top ratings spot in both total daytime and primetime viewers for 20 straight years.

Fox News rocketed to the top of cable news in January 2002 and has not faltered since.

“I am immensely proud of this landmark achievement as it is a testament to the dedicated teams across FOX News Channel, who are the backbone in making us number one for 20 consecutive years with the most loyal and politically diverse audience in cable news,” FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said.

Founder Rupert Murdoch started Fox News on October 7, 1996 to compete with the left-wing broadcast and cable news companies, like ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN.

Fox Broadcasting Company had built a strong name in entertainment, children’s shows, and sports after it launched in 1986, but it did not have a news and opinion arm.

Fox News features centrist, left-wing, and right-wing contributors to its daytime programming, while its primetime hosts all lean further to right.

Yet, the network has attracted more Democrat viewers than all other stations except radical, far-Left MSNBC.

Recent data shows that last October Tucker Carlson‘s show actually attracted more Democrats in the 25-54 age range than all other far-left televsion, including the Rachel Maddow Show, The Wrap reported.

While CNN and MSNBC have lost viewers in drove (about three-fourths of viewers in one year), Fox News has increased its viewership.

Fox News attracted 4 percent more viewers in January 2022 than January 2021, for an average audience size of 1.4 million.

MSBNC lost 656,000 viewers, marking a 60 percent decline since January 2021, and CNN lost 493,000, marking a 74 percent decline during the same period.
