Florida’s Legislature Wants Cameras in Classrooms

'The proposals we have seen offer the ability for parents to gain access to their child’s lecture, should they find out that anti-Americanism, Marxism or any perverted curriculum is being pushed... '

The Florida State legislature has introduced an intrusive bill that would require the use of cameras in school classrooms to oversee what teachers are telling students, the Epoch Times reported.

Florida’s House Bill 1055 would also require teachers to wear microphones while teaching.

The massive intrusion into the classroom is justified by attempts to root out Critical Race Theory from schools, but could turn education into an unprecedented partisan weapon, especially if the bill passes and political authority later changes hands.

The proposal would also lead to the increasing inflation of bureaucracy in schools, which are already overloaded by the state.

The bill would require a camera at the front of each classroom that could capture the entirety of the room, and the footage would have to be saved for three months.

School districts would also have to inform everyone directly or indirectly involved of the camera installation, then meticulously track who was in what room at a given time.

Parents would be able to request footage for personal viewing at any time if they believe that an alleged incident could be proven or disproven based upon the footage.

The bill would allegedly stop teachers or faculty members from “neglecting” students as well — a term unfortunately left open for interpretation.

Students and parents should rest assured, the framers of the bill said, that the faces of the students not involved will be blurred out. According to the bill, it will not serve “any purpose other than for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of students in the classroom.”

Defenders of the bill, such as Arizona Republican Kari Lake, argued that the bill is fine because the footage won’t be used by pedophiles.

“They want to convince you that cameras will be on for any Tom, Dick, and Harry to log in and watch classes—that’s preposterous and they know it,” she said.
