Fake News Trailblazer Dan Rather Invokes ‘Truth’ to Bash ‘Brandon’ Chants

'Speaking of not being able to handle the truth... '

CBS News anchorman Dan Rather, who resigned in disgrace in 2005 after he tried to sink President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign with fake documents, bizarrely equated the phrase, “Let’s Go Brandon,” to a person’s inability to accept “the truth.”

Twitter users lit up Rather for posing as a truth-arbiter considering his background as a precursor to media talking heads who proclaim the most recent hoaxes, like Russian collusion, Ukrainian quid pro quo, and alleged Capitol insurrection, reported The Daily Wire.

Rather did not explain the phrase’s connection to “the truth” in subsequent tweets.

Several people posted about the Killian hoax, in which Rather aired on 60 Minutes fake documents which alleged that Bush failed to meet Texas National Guard standards, sought exemptions from drills, and tried to alter his test results.

Rather’s claim that “Let’s Go Brandon” stands opposed to the truth comes with the additional irony that the very phrase began when a journalist lied about an audience’s “F*** Joe Biden” chant.

Rather also showed inability to distinguish the truth when he said in a 2001 interview with Bill O’Reilly that he considered former President Bill Clinton “an honest man.”

When O’Reilly responded that Clinton lied about the Lewinsky scandal, Rather retorted, “Who among us has not lied about something?”

Then, in an everlasting absurdity, he equated lying and honesty.

“I think at core he’s an honest person,” Rather said. “I know that you have a different view. I know that you consider it sort of astonishing anybody would say so, but I think you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things.”
