Fact-Checker Scorches Kamala’s ‘False’ Approval Rating Claim

'We rate the statement False...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Vice President Kamala Harris’s recent claims about non-existent positive approval ratings have been fact-checked even by the Democrat-friendly PolitiFact in a report on August 10.

During an interview with ABC News on July 31, Harris responded to questions about her approval ratings and the role of race and gender in shaping public perception, citing alleged polls that show she is liked by voters. However, PolitiFact rated that statement as “False.”

Linsey Davis, an ABC News reporter, pressed Harris over her historically-low approval ratings. “There are reports that say that you have the lowest approval rating of any vice president. I’m curious, how much role, if any, (do) you feel race and gender play in that?”

Harris refused to answer the question, claiming instead, “There are polls that also say I have great approval ratings.” However, a quick search of the latest polls related to the vice president reveals otherwise.

Harris’s ludicrous assertions caught the attention of PolitiFact, which swiftly debunked the vice president’s statement. “We rate the statement False,” Louis Jacobson, a journalist for PolitiFact, reported.

“The most recent poll in which more people approved than disapproved of Harris’ performance was  more than 100 publicly released polls ago, in October 2021,” Jacobson continued. “ Her FiveThirtyEight average is hovering at about 12 points underwater, and hasn’t been less than 9 points underwater during the past 18 months.”

PolitiFact’s report quoted the exact figures from FiveThirtyEight’s analysis, stating, “At the time the ABC News interview aired, FiveThirtyEight’s average was 39.7% approving of Harris’ performance and 52.3% disapproving, for a net of 12.6 percentage points ‘underwater.’”

This fact-check serves as another blow to the vice president following the damning release of a poll by NBC News that shows Harris facing the highest net negative poll for any vice president in the history of NBC polls.
