(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah., joined mainstream media in proclaiming Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., was fit for duty, despite suffering two recent medial incidents that saw him freeze in an apparent brain-lock stupor.
“We may expect that Mitch McConnell will check out for 20 seconds a day. But the other 86,380 seconds in the day, he does a pretty darn good job,” Romney told reporters. “I’m firmly behind his remaining as our leader.”
Romney wasn’t alone circling the wagon to defend the brain-addled establishment leader, who in addition to his most recent medical malfunction experienced a similar disturbing incident in July.

Both incidents saw McConnell abruptly stop his remarks mid-sentence and stare off into space for several seconds before being assisted in PR recovery by aides. The medical scares were preceded earlier this year by a tumble the 81-year-old senator took that resulted in a concussion and fractured rib.
None of which seemed to matter to RINOs defending their leader’s 86,830 seconds of alleged cognitive capability, when he is able to rubber-stamp swamp initiatives like endless spending for President Joe Biden’s proxy war with Russia.
“He has my full support and the support of the conference,” Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., told ABC News in a RINO herd compilation of quotes the outlet corralled. “He sounds good to me, so, I’m all good with Mitch,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., insisted.
“I feel that he is fully prepared and able to conduct his duties,” echoed alleged Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine.
The senators defense mirrored the opinion of Congressional attending physician Brain Monahan, who issued an all-clear report for McConnell.
“I have consulted with Leader McConnell and conferred with his neurology team,” Monahan said in a statement. “I have informed Leader McConnell that he is medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned.”
Monahan added that “Occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in concussion recovery and can also be expected as a result of dehydration.”
Senators not on Team RINO, however, have continued to express doubts and concerns about McConnell’s ability to effectively continue in his leadership position.
“I am concerned,” Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., told ABC News, expressing overall concern for McConnell’s advanced age relative to criticism leveled at Biden. “If you’re concerned about the president, then you gotta be concerned about other people in leadership. And I just — it’s a two-way street. It’s not one or the other,” Hawley said.
GOP presidential contender Nikki Haley offered a similar assessment following McConnell’s most-recent brain-freeze, calling for the Senate leader to resign his post.
“It’s sad,” Haley told Fox News last week. “No one should feel good about seeing that any more than we should feel good about seeing Dianne Feinstein, any more than we should feel good about a lot of what’s happening or seeing Joe Biden’s decline.”
Haley concluded that, “What I will say is, right now, the Senate is the most privileged nursing home in the country. I mean, Mitch McConnell has done some great things and he deserves credit. But you have to know when to leave.”
