(Headline USA) Former Department of Energy official Sam Brinton, a crossdressing, non-binary, pup-training fetish fan who was charged twice for stealing women’s luggage, no longer works for the Biden administration, a spokesperson for the agency confirmed on Monday.
“Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee. By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters,” the department spokesperson said in an email on Monday.
Prior to the agency’s update, it had claimed that Brinton was placed on leave but would not clarify whether he was still being paid by the government. It is also still not clear whether Brinton resigned or was fired.

Brinton, who is nonbinary, served as the Energy Department’s deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition, and made headlines after his appointment for his questionable behavior. Multiple images of him engaged in leather bondage and animal costumes emerged, raising questions about his competency.
Brinton is facing two grand larceny charges after allegedly stealing luggage from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in Minnesota and the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. Both of the suitcases he stole were filled with items worth more than $2,000 each.
Minnesota officials announced the charges against Brinton this month. Shortly after their announcement, Las Vegas officials confirmed that Brinton was also involved in an alleged theft in Las Vegas on July 6. Detectives were able to identify him as the culprit because of a rainbow-colored nuclear symbol on his T-shirt.
Republican lawmakers sent a letter to the Biden administration this week demanding that Brinton be fired for openly violating the law.
“We demand the resignation of Sam Brinton, and we implore you to set aside petty politics and appoint only the most qualified and dedicated individuals to influence America’s energy sector,” the letter read.
“As an appointed official, Sam Brinton represents both your Department and the United States. It is simply not possible for an individual to represent American values and simultaneously violate the felony laws of the land.”
