CNN’s Parent Company Rejects Trump Campaign Ads About Voter Fraud

CNN’s parent company, WarnerMedia Inc., rejected two ads from President Donald Trump’s reelection campaigns because they contained allegations of voter fraud, according to Bloomberg.

The proposed ads were meant to “inform viewers of the widespread corruption that occurred in the 2020 election,” according to the Trump campaign, citing “suitcases of Biden ballots, dead people voting, and money-for-vote schemes.”

WarnerMedia, however, refused to air the spots because claims about corruption could not be substantiated, a source said.

This isn’t the first time CNN has rejected ads from the Trump campaign. In October 2019, the network refused to air ads that disparaged CNN journalists, calling them Democratic Party “lap dogs.”

WarnerMedia also refused to air an ad from the Trump campaign in late October because it made “false” statements about Democratic candidate Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

“Specifically, the ad asserts that Biden will raise taxes on the middle class. That claim is not adequately substantiated and has been judged false by independent fact-checkers. The advertisement also mischaracterizes Nancy Pelosi as a socialist,” the company said at the time.

The Trump campaign’s ads were supposed to begin airing on Dec. 12, but they have not aired on any major cable TV networks, according to Advertising Analytics.

Trump vowed on Tuesday that his campaign would continue to litigate its case, even though the Electoral College officially elected Biden on Monday.
