(John Ransom, Headline USA) U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are calling out Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for testifying to Congress that white nationalist pose a bigger threat to American security than the southern border.
The threat has caused the DHS to add extra resources to domestic terrorism, Mayorkas said.
In a prepared statement Mayorkas said that “violent extremists…who advocate for the superiority of the white race, including white supremacists, and militia violent extremists (MVEs), present the most lethal… movement in the homeland,” according to the department’s prepared statement.
Mayorkas was testifying in front of the House Appropriations Committee, justifying his 2023 budget request.
“The department is taking a new approach to addressing domestic violent extremism, both internally and externally,” Mayorkas previously told Congress, according to the New York Times.

The comments brought vows from Republican members who said Mayorkas will come up for impeachment if the GOP took over the House in 2023.
Meanwhile, border patrol agents, who have seen a record surge of illegal immigrants crossing the border under the Biden administration, expressed outrage and stunned surprise that Mayorkas would focus on politics rather than securing the border.
“I’ve been on the phone with ICE officers, as well as Border Patrol agents who really cannot believe what Alejandro Mayorkas is saying,” Sara Carter told Fox News.
“Many of them have called for his resignation. So this is certainly not going to end here and lawmakers are certainly going to continue to challenge him and the Biden administration in the upcoming months,” Carter added.
Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland have been consistent in their comments about the dangers of domestic terrorism while largely ignoring problems at the border, which grow worse every day.
The administration has called on family members, friends, school teachers, neighbors and the clergy to report if they witness any extremist or white nationalist behavior in people, in a program called CP3, according to NPR.
Republicans have charged that the DHS under Biden have put their head in the sand.
