(John Ransom, Headline USA) Progressives are still refusing to come to terms with what Republicans said about Joe Biden when he was running for president—essentially that the country would be doomed with a dotard as president— with a prominent progressive professor blaming magic instead of Biden policies, saying that Biden’s presidency is “cursed,” said the UK’s Guardian newspaper.
“Biden has a cursed presidency,” Larry Jacobs, director of the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance at the University of Minnesota said according to the Guardian. “He’s gotten nailed by the continuation of Covid, by inflation being out of control, by a lunatic leader in Russia and now soaring energy prices that are hitting voters in the pocketbook. They want to be able to get gas for their cars and not spend a hundred bucks.”
It’s quite a turnaround for the professor who invited Minnesota native Jake Sullivan to a forum when Sullivan was named national security advisor, so Sullivan could explain to the rest of us why Biden’s foreign policy would be superior to Donald Trump’s management of foreign affairs.

Sullivan told the Jacobs forum at the Humphrey School at the University of Minnesota that Biden’s foreign policy was “going to be good for making life better, easier, safer for working people, middle-class families here in the United States of America.” said the local Fox affiliate, which was doing a favorite-son piece on Sullivan.
Jacobs was triumphant when Trump won, predicting a different type of magic for Biden.
Biden’s win would usher in a golden age of American democracy based on the best racial relations that ever existed and the infallible changes in the demographics of the country, which would somehow solve the country’s problems, said Jacobs.
“We had the largest turnout in an American election. Joe Biden beat Donald Trump,” Jacobs said according to the Guardian.
Then Jacobs made a prediction that the upcoming Georgia election would confirm the Biden coalition’s dominance.
“These Georgia Senate elections are very important; this was the heart of the Republican party’s strength and it was one of the most racist states in America only half a century ago,” Jacobs concluded according to the Guardian.
Jacobs words are echoed by other progressives, who refuse to credit the policies of Biden for the poor state of the country and rather want to blame luck –or Trump– for Biden’s unpopularity.
“I don’t know any other president that came into office with such a huge pile of rubble to clear,” Virginia Sapiro, a political science professor at Boston University, told DW.com.
Or made a bigger mess of it.
