These illegal immigrants could soon face evictions following the 60-day limit announced by the New York City government after the program was completely drained by an unprecedented and uncontrolled influx of illegal aliens in NYC.
“It looks like about less than 50% of the people are coming back after those time limits but we’ll know more about those in the coming days and we will give you that information,” Deputy Mayor Anne Williams-Isom said during a press conference on Tuesday, according to the New York Post.
The city government announced the new rule in a desperate bid to persuade fewer illegal aliens from flooding NYC streets. As detailed by Mayor Eric Adams last month, illegal aliens are required to exit the taxpayer-funded hotels and reapply for the program.

“We really want to make sure that we’re making room at the front door, ” Williams-Isom added Tuesday. “So giving people a time limit so that they can get connected to family members and other opportunities, we think is the tools that we have.”
The move was met with criticism from the individuals receiving the perks. Maria Ana, a 24-year-old Venezuelan national, complained in an interview with the Post that the short notice is not enough.
“I don’t know if I can even get ahead in the time I have to do it in, I don’t have a job,” Ana claimed, before adding, “I’m looking for options. I try to get money any way I can.”
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said last month that the program was never envisioned for a long-term stay.
“We want to make sure that no families end up on the streets. We don’t want anything to happen to our children, but we also have to let the world know that there have to be limits to this,” she said during an interview with CNN.
Meanwhile, Adams said that the unprecedented number of illegal aliens would “destroy” New York City. “Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to,” Adams said in a now-viral community town hall. “I don’t see an ending to this. I don’t see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City.
