(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) The dead body of an unidentified black male was recovered after going missing near a pond on former President Barack Obama’s $12-million mansion and estate in Martha’s Vineyard.
A multi-agency search was launched for a missing paddle-boarder after authorities received a 911-emergency call that reportedly originated from Obama’s residence. Witnesses told police that the man went underwater and struggled to stay afloat before going under and disappearing.
The man’s paddle board and hat were recovered Sunday night. The body of the man, who was last seen wearing all black without a lifejacket, was recovered from water about eight-feet deep and 100 feet from the shoreline, MV Times reported.
The incident took place near Edgartown Great Pond that backs to Obama’s estate, where police said another paddle-boarder was with the 43-year-old man who drowned, but have not released further details. It was not immediately known if Obama was currently staying at the Martha’s Vineyard estate.
While details remain murky, a dead body pulled from a pond near Obama’s mansion, where the emergency call originated, lit up social media.

“So, any rando can just paddle board within a few hundred yards of Obama’s house?” wrote Snoop Bailey, while another commentator agreed that the “story sounds very suspect; they obviously know who he is as they know the age. How does one drown on a paddle board?”
“The investigation into the fatality is being conducted by the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District and Edgartown Police,” Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.
“MSP Underwater Recovery Unit divers made the recovery after the victim’s body was located by a Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers deploying side-scan sonar from a boat.
