(Adrienne Ferguson, Headline USA) While Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis was visiting California, he had a lot to say about the policy failures of Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Desantis was in California on Sunday, visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library to give a speech in the Simi Valley.
While the speech was intended to focus on his new book, The Courage to be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival, and his future political aspirations, the Florida governor also was able to comment on his thoughts of the current leadership in California.
DeSantis did not hold back on his sentiments regarding the lack of leadership and policy failures of the current governor of California during his speech.
“I think if you look over the last four or five years, and you look at the performances of individual states, and you compare Florida versus California, New York, Illinois, some of those other states, we have had a great experiment, a great test in governing philosophies,” shared the Florida governor.
The speech also included his remarks on vaccine policies, school curriculum related critical race theory and illegal immigration policies.
DeSantis made clear the stark differences between his state’s approach to COVID-19 compared to other Democrat-leaning states.
“I can tell you, we had families move from the Pacific coast just for the fact that we had schools open in Florida, when you didn’t have them open in many other states. We did things like ban vaccine passports in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said.
“States said, ‘You want to go stay in a hotel, go to a restaurant, you got to cough up your vax papers on these mRNA shots.’ And we said that’s none of their business. Everyone has a right to participate in society. That’s a personal choice that you make whether to take that or not, and we’re not going to let you be excluded.”
