(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) A 2021 video of associate professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and Africana Studies at Rutgers University, Brittney Cooper, boldly claiming that “whiteness is going to have an end date” sparked outrage on social media.
According to the Post Millennial, Cooper made the comments while appearing on a podcast from The Root Institute, an activist news organization that claims to provide “unvarnished analysis of important issues in the black community.”
Cooper also claimed that before the start of colonial times, people of color were peaceful, loving and friendly towards one another and bore no ill will towards anybody.
“White human beings thought there’s a world here and we own it,” Cooper said. “Prior to them, black and brown people have been sailing across oceans, interacting with each other for centuries without total subjugation, domination and colonialism.”
She then expressed hope that the incoming black regime “would do it differently.”
“We will not do it perfectly, but I do think that all of us can sort of agree that a politics that says there are superior and inferior human beings just isn’t a way to go,” she added. “And that’s the thing that white people don’t trust us to do because they’re so corrupt and their thinking is so morally and spiritually bankrupt about power that they fear, viscerally, existentially, letting go of power.”
Cooper boasted “that we gotta take these muthaf*ckers out,” then insisted she does not advocate for violence.
She also made the ludicrous claim that before Columbus arrived in the Americas, there were Africans “being brilliant” with “libraries and inventions” and “vibrant notions of humanity and cross-cultural exchanges long before white people showed up being violent and terrible and trying to take everything from everybody.”
Twitter users, many of whom know more about African history than the proclaimed professor of Africana, took Cooper to task on her racist point of view.
“The problem with critical race theory isn’t only that it seeks to stereotype, scapegoat, and dehumanize,” wrote Christopher Rufo. “It’s also that many of the discipline’s practitioners, such as ‘Professor Crunk,’ are monumentally ignorant. Their identity is treated as a substitute for scholarship.”
She left out the part where the Aztecs would torture and sacrifice infants and young children to make sure their crops would grow.
