Pelosi: Election Integrity Is a Threat to Democracy

'Our democracy is at stake when you define democracy as integrity of the vote...'

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., accidentally said the quiet part aloud on Tuesday, declaring that election integrity was a threat to democracy (as she herself defines it) during an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell.

“Our democracy is at stake when you define ‘democracy’ as integrity of the vote,” she said.

As reported by Infowars, Mitchell began the interview by asking Pelosi if she truly intended to punch former President Donald Trump on Jan. 6, 2021.

Video presented last week during House Democrats’ Jan. 6 hearing showed Pelosi expressing her desire to assault the sitting president as she coordinated with Capitol Police to put down the mostly peaceful protesters breaching the U.S. Capitol.

Pelosi refused to answer Mitchell’s question, instead deflecting with an ad-hominem attack on Trump: “I don’t even like to talk about him because it’s really a tragedy to our country.”

Pelosi called Trump a coward who “wouldn’t have had the courage to come to the Hill” when pressed by Mitchell on whether she would have hit the commander-in-chief.

“He’s all talk,” she claimed.

According to her hand-selected Jan. 6 committee, however, Trump was enraged by the fact that Secret Service agents would not allow him to be transported to the Capitol and even tried to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limo.

Pelosi subsequently revealed during the interview what has been on the mind of Democrats across the nation since the 2020 election was stolen—an objective and demonstrable reality that many in her party continue to deny publically.

She said that taking measures to deter future vote fraud in elections would effectively undermine democracy by preventing Democrats from securing the votes needed to obtain a political majority.

“They [Republicans] want to suppress the vote,” Pelosi said. “They’ve been doing that for a long time. They want to nullify the results of an election.”

She went on to project onto Republicans some of the same abuses that her party has wrought with impunity while egregiously flouting state and federal election laws.

“They’re even proposing after an election if they don’t like the results, they will change the rules that would have governed that election,” said Pelosi, whose top priority in the current congressional term was the unsuccessful passage of H.R. 1, a federal election overhaul that would have done precisely that by codifying policies illegally enacted during the pandemic.

Pelosi’s gaslighting efforts during the softball interview were not limited to diminishing the sanctity of the ballot.

She also insisted that recent polls listing voters’ top concerns—most of which aligned with Republican priorities—were, in fact, false.

Asked about inflation, Pelosi claimed it was a good thing—rightfully crediting President Joe Biden’s economic policies, while falsely suggesting that the president had simply been too effective for his own good.

“Inflation, it’s a global issue,” she said. “But some of the inflation in our country sprang from the fact that this president created nearly 10 million, at least 9 million jobs, working with the private sector.”

She also claimed that the RealClearPolitics average showing the economy to be Americans’ greatest concern by far was an outlier, and that their real top issue was with abortion.

“I can tell you that women’s concerns about their freedom are very, very much still very significant in terms of how they will vote,” Pelosi added.
