Environment Cops Make Debut to Enforce Green Laws

'It will be a revolution... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Gérald Darmanin, a senior minister in France, has demanded that 3,000 “green police” be hired in an attempt to combat climate change.

European Union member-states have rolled out climate restrictions on their citizens, as the government body attempts a huge reduction in carbon emissions, which have already faced extreme criticism and open backlash.

Darmanin claimed that the employment of the green police is necessary to combat global warming, reported National File. In an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche, Darmanin said the 3,000 government agents would help mitigate the effects of climate change, and specifically mentioned forest fires.

“Faced with this, we must improve the work of judicial investigation,” Darmanin told the publication. “We have therefore decided to massively reinforce the resources of the Central Office for the Fight against Damage to the Environment and to launch 3,000 ‘green police’ posts.”

“The objective is that, in each gendarmerie brigade, there are gendarmes trained in attacks on ecology,” he said. “It will be a revolution.”

Officials in the European Union have called for a union-wide “Civil Protection Force” to fight climate change, operating under the control of Brussels.

Government elites are arguing that that the force would “protect” member-states from impending climate-related disasters.

They did not elaborate on that broad job description, but the implication suggests the green police could be in charge of investigating and possibly fining or arresting citizens for what the government deems as detrimental to the climate.

The suggestion of a specialized and poorly defined police force received extreme push back, with one Member of European Parliament saying “unelected bureaucrats” in the E.U. “are using any excuse to grab more power.”

“These European bureaucrats are not the solution, but the cause of many problems that the EU is facing, and the deeply damaging energy crisis is just a proof of that,” said Cristian Terhes, a MEP for Romania.

Dutch farmers retaliated against stringent carbon emission regulations a few months ago, and have warned that similar measures may be taken in the U.S.

While the American government has yet to designate a specific police force to enforce climate policy, there have been raids on American farmers.
