Democrat Rep. Casts More Doubt on Biden Running in 2024

'No, he should not run again... '

(Headline USA) Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., insisted once again this week that President Joe Biden will not seek a second term.

During an interview with the New York Times published this week, Maloney was asked whether Biden should run for the White House again in 2024.

“Off the record, he’s not running again,” she replied.

“Not off the record. On the record,” interjected Times opinion editor Jyoti Thottam.

“On the record? No, he should not run again,” Maloney said.

Maloney’s answers echoed similar comments she made earlier this month during a Democrat primary debate in which she said, “I don’t believe [Biden’s] running for reelection.” Following backlash from members of her own party, Maloney issued a groveling apology on CNN the next day.

“Mr. President, I apologize. I want you to run,” she said. “I happen to think you won’t be running, but when you run or if you run, I will be there 100%.

“You have deserved it,” Maloney added. “You are a great president and thank you for everything you’ve done for my state, and all the states, and all the cities in America. Thank you, Mr. President.”

Maloney is far from the only Democrat who has been shy to endorse another Biden run. Leftist Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Cori Bush, D-Mo., have refused to say they would support Biden again.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., gave a half-hearted show of support for Biden during an interview with CNN on Sunday.

“If he’s running, I will support him,” he said, arguing it is more important for Democrats to buckle down “to continue to have victories in Congress, so that the American people can see we’re fighting for them. That’s the most important thing. And we have had those recently.”
