(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg appeared to acknowledge Sunday that the pain inflicted by the worst inflation in a generation was all part of a deliberate left-wing social-engineering plan to nationalize America’s free-market-driven economy.
In an appearance on ABC News, the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., said that he, along with President Joe Biden, hoped to create a greater degree of dependency on the federal welfare state, the Conservative Treehouse reported.
Buttigieg was asked by anchor George Stephanopoulos whether Americans should be worried about the economy given rapidly rising costs.
The Transportation Secretary noted that he hoped to slow economic growth, making it more predictable and manageable via intervention on the part of the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Government.
“Right now what we are doing is preparing for the road ahead where you’re not going to see this kind of swift, red-hot, wildly fast economic growth that we had over the last year or so, but still expecting strong economic growth, and keeping it that way,” Buttigieg responded.
“What this adminsitration respects is to allow the Fed to do its job,” he continued.
The deflection echoed those of others in the Biden administration—including the president—who have continued to gaslight over the health of the US economy, despite most experts warning of a recession or even worse financial catastrophe ahead.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen only recently admited that she was wrong in repetedly calling inflation “transitory” as others warned that Biden’s policies were continuing to exacerbate it.
The result has been that many Americans—seeing the disconnect between the realistic impacts of the policies and the phony, dishonest rhetoric—suspect that leftist are deliberately seeking to usher the economy into a state of crisis that will force most Americans to embrace socialism, through means such as a universal basic income, while giving up their individual liberties in return.
A growing chorus of Republican skeptics has suggested in recent days that the Democrats’ destruction of America is being implemented by design to secure more power for themselves, Just the News reported.
“It makes no sense,” Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio said last week. “That tells you this is intentional.”
Pivoting to ongoing supply-chain issues, Buttigieg hinted at more government interference in the American family, which bore the brunt of Biden’s recent baby-formula shortage and is hit hardest by the gas and food shortages that are expected to get worse in the months to come.
Buttigieg claimed, however, that among the administration’s top objectives were “[m]aking sure that our supply chains are stronger, making sure that we invest in the capacity of both physical and human [resources] of our economy, and taking action where we can to lower costs for American families.”
Stephanopoulos then turned directly to matters like government-provided childcare and housing, asking Buttigieg what the government might do in order to help families afford to live even though such initiatives have nothing to do with the Transportation Department.
Buttigieg responed that “making life easier for Americans who are facing economic question marks right now” is his aim, and suggested that providing state-sponsored insulin, childcare and housing is the best solution to addressing inflation, which is Biden’s “top economic priority.”
