(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) Fifty-four Congressional Republicans have sent a letter to Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, in response to reports that Customs and Border Protection is planning to use Veterans Affairs doctors at the border in the event of an expected illegal immigrant surge, Fox News reported.

“A recent news report suggested that the Biden Administration . . . is considering a disturbing new policy initiative that would send VA medical professionals to the southern border,” wrote Rep. Jody Hice, R-Ga.
“Moving VA medical staff away from our veteran’s healthcare needs to examine illegal immigrants is a recipe for disaster,” Hice continued. “This is unacceptable mismanagement of federal government resources by the Biden administration.”
A surge in illegal immigration is expected in the aftermath of the White House’s suspension of Title 42, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rule that allows border officials to immediately deport illegal aliens in the midst of “an ongoing public health crisis.”
“[Veterans] are already waiting 42 days to get care at an appointment,” Green told Fox and Friends. “Is [Biden] going to send them to the border, putting illegal immigrants, drug dealers, human traffickers above the men and women who fought for this country.”
