(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Investigative journalist James O’Keefe‘s Project Veritas recently released a video revealing that President Joe Biden‘s Department of Justice has been spying on conservative journalists via their Apple and Google accounts.
Both tech giants came forward with information which showed that the DOJ had issued nine secret subpoenas to investigate journalists at Project Veritas between November of 2020 and March of 2021.
Last month Microsoft also came forward, revealing that the DOJ had demanded private information.
According to the report, the DOJ in particular “sought payment information, MAC addresses, browsing history and other personal information from multiple employees of Project Veritas.”
O’Keefe’s organization is in the midst of a court battle with the federal government over the spying issue.
Attorney for Project Veritas Paul Calli argued that the DOJ had violated several major Constitutional provisions, including the First Amendment and the Fourth Amendment.
Calli also noted that in coercing private companies to reveal their customers’ private information, the DOJ also violated what is known as Common Law Reporter’s Privilege.
“By no reasonable measure can the wholesale seizure of news gathering materials, attorney-client privileged communications, and irrelevant personal information be considered a proportional response to an alleged low-grade larceny, much less to a non-crime,” said Calli.
O’Keefe also commented on the revelation, suggesting that the federal government knows that it is in the wrong, and is trying to cover up its unconstitutional actions.
“The government knows the truth: Project Veritas engaged in journalism protected by the First Amendment,” said Project Veritas founder said.
He then pushed for the the judge presiding over Project Veritas’ court case to unseal the documents.
“As the Reporters Committee has requested of Federal Judge Analisa Torres, it is time for the DOJ’s affidavits, by which they obtained these unjustified subpoenas, be unsealed,” O’Keefe said.
