Speaking to the Greater Wisconsin Republican Women, Johnson called climate change “bullsh*t” and said that he was well aware of how dangerous it was these days for politicians to controvert the legacy media narrative on the topic.
“Mainstream media doesn’t like hearing the truth,” Johnson said. “Democrats don’t like hearing the truth.”
His comments on climate change prompted CNN to dig up the video and post it on Vimeo, calling Johnson a “climate denier.”
“Johnson,” CNN wrote, “who has yet to announce he is running for reelection, has a long history of downplaying the climate crisis, but he has repeatedly refuted accusations that he is a climate change denier.”
In defense against CNN’s accusation, Johnson said he was neither a climate denier or a climate alarmist.
“Climate is not static. It has always changed and always will change,” said the Wisconsin senator.
In early June, Johnson slammed the political and media atmosphere of fear that has been created around so-called crises like global warming and COVID-19 according to CNN.
“It was all about creating the state of fear as they tried to do with global warming,” said Johnson about the COVID-19 narratives.
Johnson said it was also an example of how the federal government corrupts things.
“Why are we talking about climate change all the time?” asked Johnson. ”It’s because government have been funding ‘science.’ And of course when you get the funding, you make sure the outcome of your science is going to be aligned with the government grant writers.”
He said some of the politics created by COVID-19 also had to do with the U.S. government funding of research at the Wuhan Bio Lab, a suspected site of the COVID-19 outbreak.
