Va. AG Charts Plan to Undo Soros’s Corruption of Prosecutors

'They view themselves more as defense attorneys than prosecutors... '

(Alex Tien, Headline USA) It appears that the red wave in Virginia following Glenn Youngkin‘s November victory for the governorship is continuing to roll.

Newly-elected Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, a Republican, is set to launch an organization designed to get rid of George Soros-financed prosecutors who push leftist reform measures that are soft of crime.

Miyares has joined forces with a locally-focused GOP group called GOPAC to launch the new Protecting Americans Action Fund, which he hopes will spark a national movement to elect conservative, rule-of-law district attorneys around the nation.

Miyares said that too many liberals who are currently in office choose to defend criminals instead of victims.

“The victims’ voices are being lost by these progressive prosecutors. They view themselves more as defense attorneys than prosecutors,” Miyares told the Washington Examiner.

“These victims are being marginalized and ignored, and it’s leading to tragic consequences,” he said.

On PAAF’s new website, Miyares stated that, “Criminal justice reform does not mean eliminating criminal justice.”

“In order to keep our communities safe, we need local prosecutors who will follow the law and work alongside law enforcement, not push a soft-on-crime agenda,” he said.

“That’s why I’m proud to support the Protecting Americans Project as they work to elect “enforce the law” prosecutors across America.”

Miyares won his race against a sitting liberal Virginia attorney general who was more focused on social issues.

Republicans have started to target leftist city and state prosecutors and AG offices who have been neglecting growing crime rates and have been blaming the spike on racial injustice, discrimination and problems with equity.

“When you hear of social justice, and it’s really distorted justice, it’s not justice for the victims,” said Miyares.

“I think one of the big problems we have in government are individuals who just think good intentions mean good results,” he said.

“And these far-left prosecutors, they may mean well, they may have good intentions, but the results have been disastrous,” he said. “And what’s so tragic is that the victims of so many of these violent crimes are the poor, those in marginalized communities.”
