(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) In a reversal of tactics as his 2024 presidential campaign kicks into gear, former President Donald Trump is looking to beat Democrats who manipulate mail-in voting as a fraud machine to generate election wins.
Trump said one for Republicans to do it, is by beating leftists at their own rigged game and focus on winning the mail-in and ballot harvesting battles.
“The radical Democrats have used ballot harvesting to cancel out YOUR vote and walk away with elections that they NEVER should have won. But I’m doing something HUGE to fight back,” Trump wrote in a fundraising email released earlier this week, according to the Post Millennial.
“Our path forward is to MASTER the Democrats’ own game of harvesting ballots in every state we can. But that also means we need to start laying the foundation for victory RIGHT NOW.”
The decision comes on the heels of Democrats again taking advantage of shady mail-in voting schemes and ballot harvesting during last year’s midterms, which helped turned what many projected to be a red wave into a red trickle.
Those results were an echo from the 2020 election, which saw about 60% of Democrats voted by mail in 2020 compared to 30% of Republicans, the PM reported.
Trump’s lean into using the voting tactics follows myriad calls from within the GOP to do the same.
“We simply have to beat them at this,” said Arizona GOP candidate Blake Masters after dropping a razor-thin midterm loss.
The change of heart doesn’t mean Republicans should endorse election-scheming, Trump said, but rather use it to regain power to fix a broken and corrupt system.
For the immediate future, the party has “no choice” except to “live with the system that stinks” and work to fix it, Trump told Breitbart in December.
“It’s a corrupt system. A mail-in ballot will always be corrupt,”he said. “If you have mail-in ballots, nobody has any idea where it’s coming from or where it’s going to and then it travels through so many hands.”
Which is why Republicans need to learn how to use it, before they fix it.
“The Democrats know it’s corrupt and the Democrats should want to fix it but they don’t because they do have an advantage under that system,” Trump said. “For the time, though, we have to live with the system that stinks so we have to fight it like they do.”
