(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Republican senatorial candidate Leora Levy pulled off a remarkable victory against RINO establishment candidate Themis Klarides in a shocking Connecticut primary, the Hartford Courant reported.
Levy, who was endorsed last week by former President Donald Trump, delivered a speech accepting the Republican nomination.
“We’re making history here,’’ Levy said. “It’s really exciting. This is just chapter one. We’ve got the longer chapter ahead… This has been an amazing experience for me.”
She also noted her Cuban heritage, proclaiming her love for American freedom in contrast with the despotism of the late Fidel Castro and his recent successors.
“My sister and I escaped communist Cuba,” Levy said..
“… This is our story, and our journey was tragedy and sacrifice,” she continued. “But it was hope at the end. And we found hope here in America. My American Dream is I am a candidate here for the U.S. Senate.”
Levy credited Trump’s help for her victory over Klarides.
“I would like to thank President Trump. Thank you, President Trump, for your strong, clear, unequivocal endorsement,” she said. “… I will not let you down. Thank you for having my back.”
After Klarides’s concession speech, her top supporter, Larraine Rubacha, lamented Trump’s popularity in Connecticut, suggesting that his endorsement pushed Levy over the top.
“I’m heartbroken,” she said. “I never saw this coming, it’s shocking. … The Trump factor must have played a large role, but who saw this coming in Connecticut? Not me and not anyone I know.”
Levy will now go on to face longtime Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal, one of Trump’s greatest adversaries in the Senate.
“Here in Connecticut, Dick Blumenthal is Joe Biden,” Levy said.
“Dick Blumenthal supported defunding the police,” she added, drawing applause from the crowd.
According to Trump, it’s time for someone to unseat the aging liar, whom he calls “Da Ning Nick” in reference to his fabricated Vietnam service.
“‘Da Nang’ Dick acts so sanctimonious and righteous when in actuality he is a coward who has gotten away with this disgusting crime against our Military for years,” Trump said in his Aug. 4 endorsement.
