(Corine Gatti, Headline USA) Former president Donald Trump called to reform education by rescinding tenure for public-school teachers and placing parents back in charge of their kids’ education during his speech at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual conference in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
The 2024 frontrunner for the Republican presidential election blasted the current education system and said he would “immediately sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing Critical Race Theory; transgender activism; and other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content on our children,” the Gateway Pundit reported.
Trump, 77, expressed his determination to fight for those parents’ rights. He emphasized the importance of protecting parents’ ability to make choices for their children and their families, declaring it a fundamental aspect of freedom and democracy.
While much attention has highlighted problems at the classroom level, with sites like Libs of TikTok exposing activist teachers who are driven by an idealogical agenda and not the well-being of their underage charges, Trump acknowledged that the systemic problems within the schools began with woke administrators pushing them down from above while failing to properly addresss political problems that arise.
“I refuse to abandon our public school system to these lunatics because what’s happening there is terrible,” a frustrated Trump noted
“That’s why I will fight for the direct election of school principals by the parents, the parents of the school,” he said. “If any principal is not getting the job done, the parents should be able to fire them immediately and select someone who will.”
Trump emphasized in the speech he will fight for school choice, including sending children to public, private charter, or religious schools of their choice.
He also announced plans to establish a new organization that will provide prestigious teacher certifications across the globe.
The certification would recognize educators who promote and support patriotic values and acknowledge their role as mentors, not indoctrinators.
