(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) A new poll suggested there are ample reasons President Joe Biden aims to avoid a Democrat presidential primary debate at all costs, particularly if the wife of his former boss decides to retake the White House.
Biden was the overwhelming preference among declared Democrat primary contenders, far outpacing party scion Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and alleged candidate Marianne Williamson, according to a Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll of likely voters conducted July 31 to Aug. 3.
Those results shifted dramatically when Michelle Obama’s name entered the picture, with the former First Lady delivering a 48% to 36% stomping of the incumbent and capturing strong strong support across the board “from women, people younger than 55, moderate Democrats, voters without kids, and voters with children younger than 18.”
The poll results fall in the shadow of a growing movement from top Democrat party insiders to draft Michelle Obama as a 2024 candidate for “fear the bumbling and mumbling president — the subject of recent dementia rumors — losing to Trump especially if a third-party candidate enters the contest,” Radar Online reported.
“If Michelle announced, the election would go immediately from a hotly contested footrace to a landslide,” a Democrat source told the outlet.
Giving additional credence to the prospect of a presidential run, Barack Obama reportedly engaged in several meetings earlier this year with top Democrats “secretly rallying congressional support for an alternate 2024 candidate — despite having publicly backed his ex-Veep for a second term.”
Democrat House bigwigs, including “Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark and Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar — as well as rising party stars like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Haley Stevens were reportedly at the get-togethers,” Radar Online relayed.
“Obama recognizes the gravity of the situation with Joe’s disappointing poll numbers,” a Beltway insider reportedly claimed. “He had hoped that the president would have rallied and come into his own at this point, but that clearly hasn’t happened.”

That shared sentiment and the Center Square poll results came as no surprise to longtime Trump ally Roger Stone.
“As I have said well over a year ago Michelle Obama will be the 2024 Democrat Nominee when they give Joe the hook,” Stone tweeted, to which a social media commentator quipped, “I mean, Obama is already running things… “
