Republicans Advance Resolution to Expel Fire-Alarm Hoaxer from House

'This is the United States Congress, not a New York City high school. This action warrants expulsion & I’m introducing a resolution to do just that...'

(Dmytro “Henry” AleksandrovHeadline USA) House Republicans have prepared a resolution that would expel radical “Squad” Rep. Jamaal Bowman, DN.Y., from Congress after he pulled a fire alarm to prevent the Stopgap bill from being signed — an attempt that turned out to be unsuccessful.

Lawmakers who looked at what happened said that the act was a felony, according to Slay News.

As a result, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., authored the resolution seeking to expel Bowman.

“This is the United States Congress, not a New York City high school. This action warrants expulsion & I’m introducing a resolution to do just that,” she said.

The resolution will be formally filed on Monday when the House is next in session.

Expulsion is the most serious form of disciplinary action available to the House for its members, Slay News reported. Only five members have ever been expelled in the entire history of the House.

The House Administration Committee and the U.S. Capitol Police [USCP] started the investigation of Bowman’s action.

In addition to the resolution and investigation, Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., also started working on a motion to censure Bowman. Even though censure is a serious disciplinary procedure, it is not as severe as expulsion.

“USCP had to waste resources investigating rather than actually keeping the Capitol safe. The House must hold Rep. Bowman accountable,” she said.

After he got caught, the only “excuse” that Bowman was able to come up with was that he “thought the alarm would open the door,” for which he was ridiculed by the public and conservatives, in particular.

To save Bowman from this situation, his team circulated a memo of talking points for his fellow Democrats that called Republican lawmakers “Nazis.”

“I believe Congressman Bowman when he says this was an accident. Republicans need to instead focus their energy on the Nazi members of their party before anything else,” the offending passage said.

After conservatives discovered that, Bowman’s office tried to pull back the talking points, with Bowman himself claiming his staff had slipped in the Nazi reference without him knowing about it, the New York Post reported.

“I condemn the use of the term Nazi out of its precise definition. It is important to specify the term Nazi to refer to members of the Nazi party & neo-Nazis,” he said.
