‘Sound of Freedom’ Crushes Woke Disney at Box Office

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Presale tickets for Sound of Freedom, produced by Angel Studios’ and starring actor Jim Caviezel, spiked to $10 million in sales for the film’s July 4 premiere.

According to the Post Millennial, the film is opening in 2,600 different locations. One million tickets were purchased for the film.

The movie was based on the real life of Tim Ballard, who worked in Homeland Security department as a special agent tracking and arresting pedophiles.

Ballard left the department because of increasing frustrations with internal bureaucracy and founded Operation Underground Railroad in 2013, conducting sting operations to save hundreds of children from sex trafficking.

“After 12 years of limitations with government bureaucracy, there were two cases in 2012 that I was told to leave alone,” he said. “I couldn’t. I had gone too deep. My wife and I made the decision to quit the government job to save the children. The only way to do this operation was to walk away from job security.”

Ballard and his wife, Katherine, have nine children, including two that Ballard bought during a sting operation in Haiti.

“I think that story is even more dramatic,” Ballard said, noting that it will be told in the forthcoming sequel.

The success of a movie from a small studio is unprecedented.

For comparison, earning projections for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the latest release from Disney, are abysmal. Projections show the movie might make $65 million, after costing $300 million to produce.

Caveizel claimed that this film is one of the most important he has been a part of.

“I am so proud to be a part of this impactful film,” he said. “In fact, I’d say this is the second most important film I’ve done after The Passion Of The Christ.”

The Sound of Freedom premieres at select locations July 4.
