Soros Claims Large Role in Helping Install Current Ukrainian Regime

(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) Hungarian-born American oligarch George Soros castigated Vladimir Putin on Twitter last week for having the audacity to resist Soros’ “open society” machinations in the Ukraine.

“I have witnessed Ukraine transform from a collapsing part of the Soviet Union to a liberal democracy and an open society,” Soros said. “It has faced countless acts of Russian aggression, but has persisted.”

“Putin’s actions are a direct attack on the sovereignty of all States that were once in the Soviet Union, and beyond,” he continued. “Allowing Putin to succeed on his quest will send a message across the world that nations can simply be created or dissolved by brute force.”

Soros neglected to mention, of course, that the current political regime in the Ukraine is, in large part, his own creation.

“Ukraine just so happens to be a country where Soros has historically wielded the most influence,” wrote Matt Polumbo, author of The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros.

“Soros’s influence in Ukraine kicked off in 1989, two years before the collapse of the USSR, when he was creating a series of NGOs,” Polumbo wrote.

“The most notable was in April 1990, when the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF), a part of the Open Society Foundations’ international network, was established in Kyiv.”

Soros has himself bragged about his influence in the Ukraine.

In a May 2014 interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, Soros was asked about his role in the revolutions that led to the Ukraine’s independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

In response, Soros appeared to suggest that he had played a role in every Ukrainian revolution, from the Orange Revolution of 2004-2005 to the Maidan Revolution in February 2014, which led to the overthrow of democratically-elected President Viktor Yanukovych and the establishment of the current regime now led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Well, I set up a foundation in Ukraine before Ukraine became independent of Russia,” Soros told Zakaria. “And the foundation has been functioning ever since. And it played a — an important part in events now.”
