(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Embattled swamp creature and RINO extraordinaire Ronna Romney McDaniel won reelection Friday to retain her seat as chair of the Republican National Committee for the fourth time, defeating attorney Harmeet Dhillon and pillow magnate and MAGA firebrand Mike Lindell.
Many key allies of Donald Trump, including top adviser Susie Wiles, supported McDaniel, according to the Daily Wire. Other Trump-supporters backed Dhillon, arguing that after GOP losses in 2018, 2020 and 2022, conservatives need some changes.
One of the people who agreed and supported Dhillon was Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who told Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk that the GOP needed “new blood” at the top.
“I think we need a change, I think we need to get some new blood in the RNC, I like what Harmeet Dhillon said about getting the RNC out of D.C.,” he said before Friday’s vote.
The comments set up a stark comparison to Trump, who many think could face DeSantis in a presidential primary.
“Congratulations to Ronna McDaniel on her big WIN as RNC CHAIR. Now we have to STOP THE DEMOCRATS FROM CHEATING IN ELECTIONS!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
Kirk, by contrast, blasted the RNC’s vote.
“The country club won today,” Kirk said after the vote. “So, the grassroots of people that can’t afford to buy a steak and are struggling to make ends meet, they just got told by their representatives at an opulent $900-a-night hotel that, ‘We hate you.’”
Other party stalwarts were also disappointed.
