Report: FBI Destroyed Clinton Foundation Evidence

'House Republicans must issue broad subpoenas for documents, depositions and public testimony for every bad actor involved...'

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The New York Times published an article Monday about how the FBI’s investigation of the Clinton Foundation lasted until the final days of Donald Trump’s presidency—portraying the probe as a politically motivated fool’s errand.

But the most explosive detail came in the last sentence of the report: “All of the evidence obtained during the course of this investigation has been returned or otherwise destroyed,” the FBI told the Times.

The FBI’s destruction of evidence was apparently closure to an investigation that opened in 2016, in response to reports that Clinton was trading political favors in exchange for donations to her foundation.

Special Counsel John Durham provided more info about this investigation in his recent Russiagate report, saying that three different FBI field offices—in Washington, D.C., Little Rock, Arkansas, and New York—launched investigations into the Clinton Foundation for “possible criminal activity.”

One of the investigations was partially started because of statements that were made in journalist Peter Schweizer’s 2015 book, Clinton Cash. In the book, the author claimed that the Clintons’ charity was taking millions in donations from foreign governments trying to change US foreign policy while Hillary was secretary of state.

All four criminal investigations, despite making progress, were shut down by senior officials, according to Durham. Republican lawmakers have called for those investigations to be relaunched for justice to be served.

“The Clintons had a team of people at the FBI running interference for them to avoid criminal culpability,” Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said last week in response to the Durham report.

However, such investigations might be difficult given that the FBI has destroyed the evidence.

Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project, blasted the FBI for its actions.

“The FBI knew then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had an illegal home server with America’s most classified secrets, almost certainly hacked by our worst enemies. The FBI also knew Hillary’s illegal home server contained evidence of the Clinton Foundation’s illegal pay-for-play bribery schemes. The FBI knew Hillary obstructed justice by destroying this server in the face of a congressional subpoena,” David said.

“So what did the FBI do? The FBI destroyed the remaining evidence.”

Davis called for lawmakers to haul the responsible FBI officials in front of Congress to answer for their actions. He pointed out that the bureau has now interfered in at least three elections in less than a 10-year span: the 2016, 2020 and 2024 elections. In citing 2024, Davis was apparently referring to the FBI’s recent decision to raid Trump’s home over misplaced documents.

“House Republicans must issue broad subpoenas for documents, depositions and public testimony for every bad actor involved,” he said. “House Republicans must also use the power of the purse and take a wrecking ball to these bad actors at the FBI so this never happens again.”
